LISBON – A Glenmoor area man accused of seeking to hire a young prostitute is now facing 75 counts of sharing obscene materials harmful to children after the Columbiana County Common Pleas Court grand jury met this week. The indictment was one of 19 open indictments issued by the grand jury.

Shaun Patrick Kempvanee, also known as Shaun Kempvadee and Shawn Kempvanee, 37, Annesley Road, East Liverpool, is charged with compelling prostitution, a third-degree felony; prostitution, a misdemeanor; attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony; and possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony. Additionally he faces 75 counts of pandering in obscenities involving a minor or impaired person, each a fourth-degree felony.

The compelling prostitution, prostitution, attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and possessing criminal tools charges are from his alleged actions on Aug. 20. According to court documents, that is when Kempvanee allegedly responded to an advertisement involving a mother and 14-year-old daughter and offered them $200 for sex. He was arrested after arriving at a designated meeting location where he was greeted by Detective Dan Haueter and other investigators through the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.

The child pornography related charges are in regards to items allegedly found on Aug. 23 by investigators to have been in Kempvanee’s possession, which included performances with a minor as one of the participants.

When he was bound over to the grand jury in county Municipal Court, Kempvanee’s bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety. His arraignment in Common Pleas Court is set for Nov. 4.
