PERRY TOWNSHIP
— Police were called at 11:43 p.m. Sunday to Adele’s Place on Snyder Road for an occupied suspicious vehicle after hours. The driver was told to go elsewhere since the business was closed.
— A woman in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 6:02 p.m. Sunday reported receiving threatening phone calls from a man who is in prison. She said the threats started when the incarcerated man became upset with the amount of money she was giving to him while he’s in prison. She was told to cease contact with him.
— A woman on Stewart Road at 8:09 a.m. Sunday reported two loose dogs, saying she secured them by their collars, but there were no tags. The Columbiana County Dog Warden was contacted to take them until the owner can be found.
— Township police assisted city officers with a search of Burger King, 1761 E. State St., where there was an open door.
— An officer at 11:40 p.m. Saturday noticed a vehicle stopped on East Pine Lake Road near Heritage Lane and noticed open containers next to several occupants between ages 18-20. When asked why the vehicle was stopped, the driver told the officer about a sick passenger in the back seat. EMS responded to check on the passenger and field sobriety tests were conducted with the driver, with no impairment detected. The officer took the open containers and verbally warned the passengers.
— Large dogs were reported loose on West State Street near Country Saw & Knife at 2:37 p.m. Saturday, but were not found.
— Police responded at 8:03 p.m. Friday to the 200 block of Idaho Avenue for a runaway juvenile with an active warrant who returned home. The 13-year-old girl was outside with her legal guardian and was taken into custody for delinquency, turned over to a Columbiana County Sheriff’s deputy and taken to the juvenile detention center. Police had been contacted about the girl at 11:52 a.m. Friday when the school contacted her grandmother to say she was absent. She had last seen her at the bus stop waiting for the bus and filled out a missing persons report. At 6 p.m. Oct. 21, police met with the same woman and her 12-year-old juvenile grandson who had been entered as missing/unruly and had an active warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody and turned over to a deputy. Police had been at the Idaho Avenue property at 11:44 p.m. Oct. 20 for unruly/runaway juvenile and it was not the first time the juvenile had run away.
— A woman at 2:38 p.m. Friday reported a neighbor unknown to her came over to her apartment harassing her at Salem Acres in the 1100 block of Prospect Street.
— A resident at Blossom Nursing & Rehabilitation Center called 911 from the facility at 3:21 a.m.Friday. Police met with the resident and established everything was fine.
— A green van was reported moving recklessly on state Route 45 at 3:31 p.m. Oct. 21, but was not found.
— A police cruiser sustained minor damage to the driver side rear bumper on East 11th Street when hit by a car hauling trailer after dealing with an accident. The cruiser had been backing out of a driveway, according to a Salem police report. The original accident involved a 16-year-old girl driving a car southbound on North Lincoln Avenue who was turning onto East 11th Street, lost control and slid into a ditch. No citation was issued.
— James Demidovich, 67, Boardman, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his eastbound vehicle failed to stop and struck the back of a vehicle driven by Brenda Yankowski, 77, Salem, on U.S. Route 62 at North Lincoln Avenue at 4:53 p.m. Oct. 20. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and no injuries were reported.
SALEM
— Police and fire personnel responded at 4:05 a.m. Monday to a fire alarm in the 200 block of Continental Drive, determining it to be a false alarm.
— A West Wilson Street man reported he and another person were walking around his truck at 8:37 p.m. Sunday when the emergency brake failed, causing the truck to roll down the driveway into the other person’s vehicle. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
— An officer at 8:35 p.m. Sunday took a report regarding a civil matter that occurred in the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue. The officer told the female resident she would need to contact her attorney about the work that was done on her house and go through the process with the court.
— A woman in the 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue reported at 7:47 p.m. Sunday that her car was keyed in the early morning hours of Oct. 20.
— Police stood by in the 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue for a property exchange at 7:22 p.m. Sunday.
— Police at 7:13 p.m. Sunday checked the well-being of a man who was reported yelling at customers outside a business in the 2300 block of East State Street. He was given a verbal warning for disorderly conduct.
— A suspicious person was reported at 2:01 p.m. Sunday at Southeast Boulevard and Edgewood, but was not found.
— Police were called at 3:44 a.m. Sunday to the 200 block of West Fifth Street by a woman who wanted officers to check inside her residence for suspicious activity. No one was found inside. She had called at 3:25 a.m. to report hearing a knocking outside, with nobody found.
— Duane Dustroph, 38, East Fifth Street, was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence and obstructing traffic after police were called at 2:38 a.m. Sunday for a gray SUV parked in the road northbound at the traffic light of South Broadway at East State Street with the driver passed out. He was released to a sober person.
— Officers and fire department personnel responded to Burger King, in the 1700 block of East State Street, at 1:49 a.m. Sunday for an alarm and found the business unsecured. The fire department found the alarm was due to an electrical issue.
— Antonio Papale, 36, East Sixth Street, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street for a domestic, with one person leaving and waiting in a parking lot for officers at 12:37 a.m. Sunday. A woman said she had been in a physical altercation with her husband and had visible marks. The husband also said there was a physical altercation and was taken into custody.
— Police and fire personnel responded at 11:48 p.m. Saturday to the 500 block of South Broadway for a medical after a man collapsed on the back patio of a bar. He was taken to a hospital.
— A vehicle found parked in Centennial Park after hours at 11:06 p.m. Saturday was unoccupied with no one found in the park.
— A strange liquid was reported in the road in the 600 block of South Lundy Avenue at 9:51 p.m. Saturday. Fire department personnel said it appeared to be oil that was already drying. A message was left for the road department.
— Police were called at 8:25 p.m. Saturday to the 200 block of West Pershing Street for a trespassing complaint. A woman said the caller told her to come over to get her belongings, which the caller admitted. She was then told to leave. The caller was told in the future to choose a public meeting spot to exchange any property.
— A possible domestic was reported over a set of keys at 7:11 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Barclay where police learned it was verbal only and the male found the keys in the vehicle. The female left.
— Firefighters at 6:40 p.m. Saturday reported a juvenile in dark clothing riding a bicycle in and out of traffic in the 800 block of East State Street. The juvenile was not found.
— A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 6:38 p.m. Saturday on South Union but was not found.
— A caller at 6:35 p.m. Saturday reported suspicious juveniles who parked in a lot on West Perry Street, exited the vehicle, traveled east between two houses and then returned with more juveniles and left.
— Police were called at 5:53 p.m. Saturday to the 900 block of Barclay to check on a male, who said everything was ok. He was just sitting in his vehicle after work.
COLUMBIANA
— Officers arrested Donna Partlow, 61, of Boardman, Friday evening for OVI, drug paraphernalia and possesion of a controlled substance. Police stopped Partlow on South Avenue near Bayshore Drive for a headlight out and found suspected crack cocaine.
— Police responded Saturday to a neighbor dispute on South Main Street.
— Police arrested Thomas R. Belan, 44, of Columbiana for reckless operation of a motor vehicle Saturday evening.
— Javier Correa struck a fire hydrant with his vehicle on State Route 14 Sunday. Officers cited Correa with OVI and failure to control.
— Officers pursued a vehicle at 6:06 a.m. Sunday after a driver gave false information to officers regarding not having registration displayed. After pursuing the woman for several miles conditions became a threat to public safety. An investigation is currently pending.
