Grand jury issues 23 indictments
LISBON – The Columbiana County Common Pleas grand jury issued 23 indictments this week including:
Jay Thomas Kelly, 59, Hanoverton, is charged with compelling prostitution, a third-degree felony; importuning, a fifth-degree felony; possessing criminal tools, fifth-degree felony; misdemeanor soliciting; nine counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, a fourth-degree felony; and 12 counts of illegal use of minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, a fifth-degree felony for responding to East Palestine June 20 to allegedly purchase sex from a 38-year-old female, 18-year-old female and 15-year-old female.
Kenneth Leroy Eck, 65, Windsor, Va., is charged with compelling prostitution, a third-degree felony; attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony; possessing criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony; and misdemeanor engaging in prostitution for responding to East Palestine Aug. 8 to allegedly purchase sex from a 37-year-old female and her 15-year-old daughter.
Jeremy Michael Mathew Quear, 41, Wapum, Pa., is charged with compelling prostitution, a third-degree felony; attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony; possessing criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony; and misdemeanor engaging in prostitution for responding to East Palestine Aug. 16 to allegedly purchase sex from a 37-year-old female and her 15-year-old daughter.
Journey Mykal Wayts, 29, New Middletown, is charged with compelling prostitution, a third-degree felony; and possessing criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony, for responding to East Palestine Aug. 16 to allegedly purchase sex from a 16-year-old female.
Michael Curtis Robb, 40, East Palestine, is charged with promoting prostitution, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly transporting a woman to East Palestine for purchased sexual activity Aug. 16.
Michael C. Tack, 50, Warren, is charged with compelling prostitution, a third-degree felony; attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony; possession criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony; and misdemeanor engaging in prostitution for responding to East Palestine Aug. 13 to purchase sex from a mother and her 15-year-old daughter.
Mitchell Allen Baker, 26, Wellsville, is charged with rape, a first-degree felony; felonious assault, a second-degree felony; and misdemeanor domestic violence for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in Salineville Oct. 16.
Zackary J. McFarland, 23, Columbiana, is charged with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and misdemeanor illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop in Columbiana Aug. 22 in which he was a passenger and allegedly attempted to hide a glass pipe.
George C. Smith Sr., 49, Salem, is charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanors failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, two counts, and OVI following a traffic stop in Salem Aug. 14.
Cheyenne E. Moore, 21, East Palestine, is charged with possessing criminal tools and telecommunications fraud, both fifth-degree felonies, for allegedly taking a co-worker’s paycheck from a safe at her place of employment in East Palestine Aug. 23.
Robert J. O’Malley, 23, Youngstown, is charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, following a traffic stop in Columbiana County Aug. 31.
Jennifer Goldman, 37, New Brighton, Pa., is charged with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and misdemeanor possessing drug abuse instruments following a traffic stop in Columbiana Sept. 6.
James C. Jones, 41, Youngstown, is charged with assault, a fourth-degree felony; two counts of retaliation, a third-degree felony; and misdemeanors OVI, OVI-refusal with prior, resisting arrest and obstructing official business following a traffic crash in Columbiana Oct. 4 in which he allegedly kicked an officer.
Rusty R. Aultman, 48, Lisbon, is charged with having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony, after officers responded to a Cream Ridge Road home Oct. 9 where he reportedly appeared to be under the influence of a drug.
Daniel R. Mathes, 29, Rogers, is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly stealing a vehicle from the East Palestine Moose Lodge parking lot May 28.
Steven Thomas Lightner, 21, Salem, is charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony; grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony; and misdemeanor obstructing of official business for allegedly leading officers on a vehicular chase in a stolen vehicle Aug. 25 in Salem.
Lester D. Lovett Jr., 28, East Liverpool, is charged with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and misdemeanor obstructing official business for allegedly fleeing from officers in Salem Aug. 26.
Jason E. Dotson, 44, Salem, is charged with domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, and misdemeanor unauthorized use of a vehicle for striking a female passenger multiple times while driving in Lisbon Sept. 16.
Jeremy Mahalek, 40, Georgetown, Pa., is charged with burglary, a second-degree felony, and misdemeanor criminal trespass for allegedly forcing entry into a home on Quaker Lane in Salem Sept. 3.
Kyle E. Melott, 27, Leetonia, is charged with burglary, a second-degree felony, for allegedly entering a home on state Route 164 in Fairfield Township Dec. 7.
Aiden Isaac Love, 24, East Liverpool, is charged with domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly assaulting a female in East Liverpool Sept. 16.
Zachery K. Humphreys, 28, Salem, is charged with escape, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly leaving the East Liverpool hospital while in police custody Sept. 16.
Joshua Lapin, 32, Salem, is charged with trespass in a habitation, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly entering a Lisbon apartment May 8.
