Highway Patrol

— Lisa Merrick, of East Rochester, was cited at 5:22 a.m. Oct. 20 in West Township for failure to control, after her vehicle traveled off the left side of Rochester Road, struck a ditch and two utility poles.

— Quing Liu, of Flushing, N.Y., was cited at 2:55 p.m. in Salem Township, after he failed to yield at a stop sign at state Route 45 and Salem Grange Road, traveled off the right side of state Route 45 and hit the guardrail.

— A citation for failure to control and no seat belt is pending for Amanda Feezle, of Apple Street of Salem, who went off the left side of road while traveling eastbound on state Route 14 before continuing into a cornfield.

— Clayton Whitman, of Adams Avenue in Salem, was cited at 9:07 p.m. Oct. 18 for failure to control, after he failed to negotiate a curve on state Route 344 and ran off the right side of the road, striking a sign and three trees.

— Shannon Matthew, of North Canton, was cited for a marked lanes violation at 6:29 p.m. Oct. 18 in Elkrun Township, after striking a vehicle driven by Jennifer Kraft, of New Cumberland, while entering state Route 11 off state Route 154.

— Nancy Krieger, of Kensington, was cited at 12:16 p.m. Oct. 21 in Center Township for a right-of-way violation, after striking a vehicle driven by Holly Pequardt, of Columbiana, near the intersection of state Route 172 and Depot Road.

— Connor Wright, of Valley Road in Salem, was cited at 5:27 p.m. Oct. 25 for failure to maintain an assured clear distance, after causing a four-vehicle chain reaction crash on state Route 14 in Unity Township. Wright ran into the back of Kristi Johnson, of England Drive in East Palestine, forcing her into Rafeal Tum Piu, of Brushville, Pa., also of East Palestine, and into Mary McNeill, of Janet Street in Beaver Falls. Who were stopped at a traffic device. Tum Piu also was cited for driving without an operator’s license.

— Daniel Helman, of Hall Road in Salineville, was not hurt at 8:47 p.m. Oct. 23 in Center Township, when his vehicle burst into flames while southbound on state Route 164.

— Isabella Cusick, of state Route 517 in Lisbon, was cited at 2:46 p.m. Oct. 22 for assured clear distance, after striking an unidentified driver while attempting a turn from East Liverpool Road to Y&O Road.

— Nicholas Damico, of Mineral Ridge, was cited at 6:59 p.m. Oct. 20 in Butler Township for failure to control, after failing to negotiate a curve while southbound on state Route 9, overturning his vehicle which then ejected him.

— Richard Martin, of Lincoln Avenue in Wellsville, was cited at 5:18 p.m. Oct. 22 for improper overtaking, after he was struck by James Wilson, of Homeworth, while trying to pass multiple vehicles at once.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 5:43 a.m. Thursday for a report of two people sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment building. They advised they were waiting for another resident at the building, and there were no issues.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Thirds Street at 4:56 a.m. Thursday for a report of two people knocking on the caller’s door at an early hour of the day. Contact was made with the individuals in question, and they advised they knocked on the wrong door and left the area.

— Officers responded to the area of Washington Avenue and Oak Street at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday for a reported barking dog complaint. Officers spoke with the owner, advising him of the complaint and he advised that he just forgot to let the dog back inside and that he would go bring it in.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Ninth Street at 8:48 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a resident having a seizure from alcohol use. The first responders and EMT also responded to the residence and the individual was transported to the hospital.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West 13th Street at 8:02 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a vehicle parked at a vacant residence. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived, and the interior of the residence was checked with nobody inside.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East School Street at 7:51 p.m. Wednesday for a reported child screaming. Officers checked the area but no problems, nor disturbances could be located.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Contact was made with the person in question and was transported to the hospital by EMT.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 6:17 p.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that someone was getting into her apartment, possibly through a vent in the kitchen which was not there. After checking some kitchen cabinets and the rest of the apartment the caller calmed down and she was advised to follow-up with her landlord and health aid regarding what she believed she was hearing.

— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday for a report of illegal dumping. The caller advised that a man had dumped their trash in the dumpster on his property without permission. The caller just wanted officers to speak with the man and advised him not to do it again or they would press charges. Officers spoke with the man’s girlfriend who advised she would inform him of the complaint and advised her to have him call if they had any questions to contact the police department.

— Officers responded to the area of West State Street at 11:48 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a vehicle driving erratically. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, finding the owner was transporting an elderly man to the Salem Regional Medical Center Emergency Department. Officers ensured they arrived at their destination safely.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday for a report of child abuse. Officers collected information and the matter will be looked into.

— Officers responded to the area of South Lundy Avenue and Aetna Street at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that the vehicle had been sitting in the same spot for several months. Officers observed the vehicle to have an expired registration and to appear as if it had not been moved for several weeks. Officers placed a 48-hour tow away ticket on the vehicle and a parking ticket for a vehicle parked on a public roadway with expired registration.

Leetonia

— A loose dog attacking a cat was reported at 10:08 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Columbia Street. After extensive patrolling on foot and by cruiser, the dog couldn’t be located.

— Police responded at 8:37 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Walnut Street for a criminal trespass complaint against Jimmy Anderson, who was refusing to leave the property despite being repeatedly asked by the complainant, who provided officers with video evidence to support her claims of his presence for an extended period of time. The photos as well as unwanted text messages will be forwarded to Leetonia police email. Officers are conducting extra patrols and will file fresh criminal trespass charges if they are unable to locate Anderson in a reasonable amount of time.

— Police were dispatched at 6:36 p.m. Sunday to investigate a 911 open line in the 200 block of Ridge Street. He checked with the home in question as well as her neighbors and found no emergency present. However, they did extra patrols to the area as a precaution.

— Marcella Johns, her spouse and sister who were not named in the report, left the Leetonia football stadium shortly after 7:42 p.m. Friday after repeated attempts to initiate a “fight in progress” in the concession stand of the stadium during the Bears’ game against Southern Local. The trio had continued to act disorderly and failed to comply with the investigating officers at least twice and finally left under the threat of being criminally charged.
