Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy was dispatched at 5:44 p.m. Friday to Huntington Bank, state Route 45, Lisbon for an alarm drop, but all doors and windows were secure at ground level.

— A deputy arrived at 4:51 p.m. Friday to an address on Kirk Road, Fairfield Township, for a welfare check. North Star EMS transported the person to East Liverpool City Hospital in East Liverpool.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:55 p.m. Sunday for a report of an unknown man looking in the windows. Officers located the person in question who advised he was attempting to locate someone that used to live at the residence and didn’t know they moved, and the man was advised not to go back to the residence.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Ohio Avenue at 7:12 p.m. Sunday for a reported person to be removed. The person in question, Seaton Ruffner, 41, Negley, was identified and found to have a no-contact order for the residence and caller and transported directly to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Ninth Street at 5:19 p.m. Sunday for a reported breaking and entering of an unoccupied structure. Officers spoke with the property owners who are currently renovating the property and advised that it had likely occurred within the last week but couldn’t specify when due to not being there for a week. Officers advised the owners they would look into the matter and keep an extra watch in the area.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 12:54 p.m. Sunday for a reported dog at large. Officers spoke with a resident of the house who advised that his sister owned the dog but was not home, and that the dog had gotten out. Officers advised him that because he had no prior reports of the dog being loose, he would receive a warning.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Trimble Street at 12:11 p.m. Sunday for a reported suspicious object. Officers located the object, finding it to be a beach ball.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Pershing Street at 10:49 a.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile issue. The caller advised that the juvenile they have custody of became upset after their cell phone was taken and wanted officers to speak with them. Officers spoke with the juvenile who calmed down.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Cleveland Street at 12:56 p.m. Saturday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that he had been in a verbal dispute with a person at a business in the 900 block of East State Street about throwing household trash in the business’ trash containers. Officers advised the man of the options for dealing with the situation. Officers further advised the man that it was illegal to throw his trash into the trash containers of businesses without their permission.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 1:25 a.m. Saturday for a reported waterline break. Officers stood by until the water department arrived and handled the matter.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 9:56 p.m. Friday for a reported theft. The juvenile caller and their father advised that a female juvenile had stolen his cowboy boots from a business. The juvenile’s father advised he did not want to press charges and only wanted the boots returned. Contact was made with the juvenile and her mother, and they were advised that they could not only be charged with theft but trespassed from the business in the future and both parties’ boots were retrieved and brought to to police department to be collected.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Howard Avenue at 8:20 p.m. Friday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that she believed someone was on her front porch but did not know who. Officers located footprints in the snow but were unable to locate anyone in the area and the caller was advised to call if they returned.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 7:07 p.m. Friday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an incident. During the incident contraband was recovered from an involved person, Timothy Kondik, 56, North Canton, who was subsequently charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and transported to the Columbiana County Jail by Ohio State Highway Patrol and additional charges are pending.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Benton Road at 6:56 p.m. Friday for a reported vehicle stopped in the roadway. Officers located the vehicle on state Route 14 north of the bypass and Perry Township Officers were advised.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Broadway Avenue at 4:47 p.m. Friday for a report of possible fraud. The caller advised that the person in question had attempted to cash a bad check and that when told they could not, they became irate and left. The caller provided officers with a description of the person and the vehicle they left in.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Third Street at 2:27 p.m. Friday for a possible burglary report. The caller advised that she believed the person in question had broken into her house sometime during the week and stolen her TV, and that they had previously stayed at the residence periodically. Officers photographed the damage to the property.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Mound Street at 8:05 a.m. Friday for a wellness check requested by Child Protective Services. Officers were unable to make contact at the residence.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:09 a.m. Friday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised they were having an issue with an employee and when officers arrived, the caller advised the issue was a misunderstanding.
