Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy was dispatched at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to a residence on Homeworth Road in Knox Township for a domestic, learning the suspect left and passing the suspect who was eastbound on Buck Road. The deputy activated his overhead lights and the suspect had been traveling at a high speed after passing the deputy, with the deputy losing sight of him. The suspect’s vehicle was located minutes later by an Ohio State Highway Patrol sergeant after the vehicle crashed through a fence and came to rest in a field 100 yards from where it left the roadway. The suspect was identified as Justin Kinser, 34, Homeworth Road, Alliance. He was charged with operating a vehicle impaired, along with other traffic charges, and later charged with domestic violence and aggravated menacing related to the original domestic call.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 12:24 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that he had not spoken with the person in question for several days. Officers entered through an open door and found the person upstairs, who advised that they had fallen earlier in the week and been unable to get up. They were transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for medical attention.

— Ashley Pastore, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a vehicle driven by David Menough, Salem, at the intersection of South Ellsworth Avenue and West Pershing Street at 11:04 a.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported.

— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Cleveland Street at 10:19 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised they were having issues with their phone.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 8:59 a.m. Wednesday for a report of recovered property. The property was brought back to the department and placed lost and found.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday for a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The caller advised that a man had moved her vehicle because it was in his unmarked parking spot, and the man, Mark Seaman, 61, Salem, admitted to moving the vehicle without the owner’s permission. Seaman was issued a summons to Columbiana County Municipal Court for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Pine Lake Road at 4:12 p.m. Wednesday for a reported warrant check. Officers located the woman, Angel Gorby, 42, Salem, taking her into custody on an outstanding felony warrant from Stark County. She was later handed over to a Stark County Sheriff’s deputy in Alliance.

— Officers responded to the area of state Route 45 to assist a man walking along the roadway at 2:22 a.m. Tuesday. Officers and the Ohio State Highway Patrol were unable to locate the man.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 5:41 p.m. Monday for a reported medical call. The man was unresponsive but breathing and officers stood by until the man was transported.

— Officers responded to the area of South Cunningham Road at 7:41 a.m. Sunday for a possible accident. Officers located a semi-truck stuck on the hill due to icy conditions and assistance was requested from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. The roadway was shut down until the Ohio Department of Transportation arrived.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Depot Road at 7:36 a.m. Sunday for a report of a man outside screaming and waving his hands. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the man.

— James Blanks, 46, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after his westbound vehicle on Jennings Avenue failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a vehicle driven northbound on U.S. Route 62 by Heather Holenchick, 49, Salem at 7:05 p.m. Jan. 6. No injuries were reported.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Andrew Avenue at 9:39 p.m. Jan. 6. for a wellness check. Officers contacted the person in question who advised they were fine.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Pembrooke Drive for a suspicious person report. The caller advised the man had entered their residence looking for a woman but was asked to leave by the caller. Officers spoke with the man who advised he’d gone to the wrong building and apartment.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 2:09 p.m. Jan. 5 for a report of theft. Officers found the caller had given her neighbor her daughter’s social security card to hold on to last year and that when their father filed his taxes this year, he was notified that somebody else had claimed the kids. The caller notified the IRS, and officers were unable to speak with the neighbor at that time.
