Salem

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 1:44 a.m. Thursday for a noise complaint. Officers could hear music from the apartment when they arrived and rang the doorbell, but no contact was made. The music was turned off while officers were present, and a neighbor was advised to call back if they hear it again.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 7:06 p.m. Wednesday for a reported juvenile riding a motorized scooter on the track at Sebo Stadium. The juvenile departed prior to officers arrival.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cleveland Street at 3:07 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a person screaming and the sound of an object falling to the ground. Officers found that a section of wooden fence had fallen over but no residents were home.

— Officers checked on an open door at a residence in the 200 block of South Howard Avenue at 2:47 p.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with the new owner who was inside working on the residence.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:32 p.m. Wednesday for a report of possible identity fraud. The caller advised they had received a letter from the state income tax department saying they owe money from 2019. The caller believed there had been fraudulent activity due to not filing taxes since 2012. The caller was advised to contact the state income tax department to figure out what exactly the money is owed for. The caller was provided a report number and advised to follow up with the officer.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of Painter Road at 12:22 p.m. Wednesday to check for a tree down on utility lines. The tree was located outside city limits and the lines were still intact but had been stretched down close to the ground by the weight of the tree. Dispatch notified Perry Township of the complaint.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:44 a.m. Wednesday regarding an ongoing situation with a family member who had previously filed a report with the department. The person advised that the family member has been making false police reports and requested a police report be made on their behalf. They also advised that the original report claimed that they were harassing the family member at their work but that they only visit the workplace because their spouse works there as well. Officers advised that a report would be made.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Vine Avenue at 11:11 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on a woman known to have an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Officers spoke with the woman Nancymarie Garwood, 41, Salem, taking her into custody and transporting her to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 7:54 a.m. Wednesday for an unknown issue. Officers were advised that the caller had called multiple times but would not give an explanation of what the problem was. Officers were unable to make contact with the person, but no further calls were made.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 9:48 p.m. Tuesday regarding the eviction process stemming from a previous call in the 1100 block of Maple Street. The process was explained, and officers responded back to Maple Street so that the caller’s son could retrieve his wallet and work keys without further incident.

— Officers on patrol in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and East Euclid Street at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations. Officers conducted a traffic stop during which Patrolman LaRosa and K-9 Fero were requested to respond and K-9 Fero alerted to the presence of narcotic odor. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted with no contraband recovered and officers issued a written warning for the traffic violations.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 6:41 p.m. Tuesday for a report of possible menacing. The caller advised that a person known to her had been contacting her though Facebook and threatened to “pull up” at her home. After reviewing all contact between the two it was determined that the caller also had a large part in the interaction. The caller was advised to block the person and contact officers if the person was ever seen in the area.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Union Avenue at 6:41 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a person that was bitten by a neighbor’s dog. Officers found that the person had not actually been bitten but come close. Officers attempted to contact the owner to advise them of the complaint and to control their animals but were unable to do so.

— Officers responded with the fire department to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 5:26 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a vehicle leaking fluids. Officers located the vehicle advising the owner of the issue and they made arrangements to remedy the situation.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Oak Street at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday for a reported neighbor dispute. The caller advised that there has been an ongoing issue with a neighbor videotaping him and coming onto his property. The caller was advised that it was not illegal to video tape them but that the neighbors could be trespassed from his party. A trespass form was filled out and the neighbor was advised that if they went onto the caller’s property, she could face criminal charges.

Sheriff’s Office

— A man on Latta Road, Unity Township, reported at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday that he had a physical altercation in East Palestine earlier in the day with two other men, with East Palestine police arriving. Now he said the men are in a vehicle driving past his residence multiple times. A deputy checked the area, but found nothing.

— A woman on Bowman Road, Knox Township reported at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday that the mother of her boyfriend’s children was parked in the driveway refusing to leave. While a deputy was en route, she left in her vehicle. The deputy checked the area, with negative contact. He spoke to the woman’s boyfriend, who said the other female was supposed to drop off the children and leave, but would not leave due to him not being there. She left with the children before he arrived and he said the children were supposed to be spending time with him from 6 to 9 p.m. per court order.

— A woman on Dunn Road, Madison Township reported at 3:34 p.m. Wednesday that juveniles were riding dirt bikes up and down the road. A deputy checked and didn’t find any juveniles on dirt bikes on the road.
