Sheriff’s Office
— A man on Center Avenue, Center Township, reported at 8:59 p.m. Thursday that his neighbor/landlord keeps taking his trash out of the trash, goes through it and separates it before putting it back in the trash. He stated he feels violated.
— A couple from Toronto who own a residence and property on Votaw Drive, Hanover Township, reported at 8:26 p.m. Thursday that their neighbor is having a dispute with them over the property line and one of their trees that is hanging over on his property. They said he left an unpleasant letter on one of their vehicles on Thursday. They were advised how to obtain a protection order and to contact an attorney.
— Deputies were dispatched at 5:43 p.m. Thursday to Ted Williams Enterprises, state Route 45, Salem Township, for a person sitting in the driver seat of a vehicle slumped over the wheel. Winona and Leetonia EMS arrived and Winona checked out the person who was having some type of medical issue. A family member then came and picked up the person.
— Suspicious vehicles and persons were reported at 12:52 a.m. Thursday in a field off of Rochester Road near Mountz Road. Deputies did not locate any vehicles or persons in any fields from state Route 172 to North Georgetown.
— A deputy on patrol at 11:51 p.m. Wednesday came upon a vehicle partially in the road on state Route 170 near St. Clair Avenue in Calcutta. Contact was made with the occupants who advised of a domestic dispute that occurred at Sheetz that they left. However they said they needed to pull over due to the driver being upset. St. Clair Township Police arrived and handled the situation. The people were all checked for warrants and released.
— A woman from Missouri requested a report at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, per her attorney, that her ex-husband, who lives in Hanover Township, signed both of their names on a document in July 2024 in front of a notary from Perry Township.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:20 a.m. Friday for a report of a man looking in the caller’s window. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone. An extra patrol will be added in the area.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 11:27 p.m. Thursday for a reported assault. Officers located people in the parking who advised that a man struck them with a closed fist. Officers located the person in question, Dustin Wright, 28, Kensington, attempting to hide in the rear alley behind Sparkle while highly intoxicated and in violation of a protection order. The person did not want to pursue charges on the assault and Wright was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and violating a protection order. Officers transported the man to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 10 p.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers located a school bus with its lights on in a gated parking lot checking on it and determining that everything checked okay.
— Officers responded with the fire department to the 300 block of West Second Street at 7:52 p.m. Thursday for a reported medical call. The fire department started CPR and medical treatment, and the man was transported to the hospital by EMT.
— Officers responded to the area of Continental Drive and Bentley Drive at 7:11 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person. Officers spoke with the person in question and moved them along.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Madison Avenue at 6:25 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check on a juvenile who sent a chat to a friend advising that she wanted to “end it all.” Officers spoke with their parents and the juvenile in question who advised that she had a conversation regarding her and her boyfriend breaking up. She provided officers with the phone and the text was verified, and officers spoke with both parents about the juvenile regarding options for counseling and further follow-up care as this is not the first instance of something like this occurring. The parents were also advised to speak with the school resource officer regarding bullying issues the daughter may be having.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:02 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check on a woman allegedly yelling at vehicles. Officers checked the area and located the woman in the 500 block of East Third Street advising her of the complaint.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 3 p.m. Thursday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that there was a woman sitting on the store property and they wanted her to leave. Officers advised the woman that she could no longer sit on the property but could stand on the sidewalk if she’d like, and the woman gathered her things and left the area.
— The school resource officers were advised by school administration and guidance counselors of an issue with a student at 2:55 p.m. Thursday. After a brief investigation it was found that the student was having some mental health issues and the fire department and EMT responded and transported them to the Akron Children’s Boardman for evaluation.
— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 1:31 p.m. Thursday for a report of harassment. Officers collected information for the report and advised them woman to contact the law enforcement agency where she resides for a report.
— Officers responded to the area of Southeast Boulevard and Park Avenue at 9:36 a.m. Thursday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that they have been working on a residence in the area and were having difficulty finding places to park. Officers advised them of their options.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 8:41 p.m. Thursday regarding an issue at a local school. Officers advised the caller they would speak with the school resource officer to look into the matter.
— Monika Rivera, 31, Campbell, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her southbound vehicle on South Ellsworth Avenue struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Kimberly Haralson, 57, Warren, at 5:27 a.m. Thursday. Haralson was cited for expired license and transported by EMT.
