Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies responded to the area of Yeager Drive and state Route 267 at 5:07 a.m. Saturday in reference to a teenager walking down the road, but were unable to find the person in question.
— A deputy responded to a Glasgow Road, Madison Township, home at 12:32 a.m. Saturday to complete a missing person report in reference to the resident’s son who is having a mental episode and has made recent threats against his own life.
— A deputy served a protection order at an East Third Street, East Liverpool, residence at 6:44 a.m. June 17.
Salem
— Officers on patrol in the 2300 block of East State Street at 1:02 a.m. Monday observed two women driving behind a business. Officers advised them that the business does not want anyone taking items from their dumpsters and they left.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Ridgewood Drive at 9:31 p.m. Sunday for a reported parking complaint. Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle and advised him to move it, and he did so.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Ridgewood Drive at 8:51 p.m. Sunday for a reported property dispute. The caller advised that he gave his neighbor a few firearms due to lacking any safe storage from them and that when he went to get them back the neighbor would not return them. Officers advised him that the matter was civil, but a follow-up would be conducted in an attempt to resolve the issue.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of West Wilson Street at 3:09 p.m. Sunday for a report of a man and woman in a physical altercation. Neither party wanted to pursue charges and they both separated for the day.
— Officers responded to the area of Jennings Avenue and West State Street at 12:49 p.m. Sunday for a report of a vehicle that appeared to be traveling at an excessive speed. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate it.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:41 a.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The caller advised that they entered the store multiple times, and no employee had come to the counter, and they were worried. When officers arrived, the caller advised there was a note on the counter stating the employee was in the back and everything was fine.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 5:09 a.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that the person came into the store asking everyone for money. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Oak Avenue at 3:58 a.m. Sunday for a reported suspicious vehicle in the park after hours. Officers advised the drivers that the park was closed.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of East State Street at 12:46 a.m. Sunday for a report of lines down in the roadway. Officers blocked off the roadway and the fire department and Ohio Edison and AT&T were called. Officers spoke with a semi-truck driver at a nearby business who advised officers that his load may have caught a low hanging wire, causing the pole to snap, but he wasn’t certain. The road was then blocked off by barricades.
— Officers responded to the 110 block of Maple Street at 10:50 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic dispute which was originally reported as an assault. The caller advised that his stepfather, who was heavily intoxicated, came downstairs and started getting in his face, threatening to harm him and pushed him multiple times and he had responded by shoving them back. The stepfather, Breion Price, 32, Salem, was ultimately taken into custody for domestic violence and transported to the police department for processing prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 10:43 p.m. Saturday for a report of sexual harassment. The caller advised that an unknown man had made sexual comments toward them, and they wanted to make a report. Officers spoke with the other party who advised nothing happened, and the man advised he would be leaving for the night.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of West State Street at 9:56 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. Sebring dispatch notified Salem of a red Jeep with a temporary tag heading eastbound into the city on U.S. Route 62 and officers observed the vehicle passing Dollar General and “multiple vehicle that had been following, pointed at the Jeep, and allowed officer to enter the roadway.” The Jeep nearly struck a telephone pole before officers were able to conduct a traffic stop, and the driver, Melissa Mills, 41, Salem, advised they were looking for their dog and denied any reckless driving. Mills admitted to having prescriptions for three narcotics which were located in the vehicle and after conducting field sobriety testing officers placed Mills in custody for OVI, transporting her to the police department for processing.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 9:24 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on an 8-year-old juvenile who advised that her daughter was at her father’s house and that the father and his girlfriend had been sleeping for the past two hours. The caller advised that there was nothing to eat in the house and that she had to DoorDash food for her daughter. Officers spoke with the daughter who advised the same. Officers also spoke with the father, who appeared to be waking up from sleep, advising him of the complaint, and he denied the allegations. The incident will be forwarded to Columbiana County Children Services.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Maple Street at 9:09 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with both parties and found that the male half, who was intoxicated, was upset that a family member was invited to the house. Nothing physical took place and both parties agreed to separate for the night.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 8:49 p.m. Saturday for a warrant check. Officers spoke with the woman in question, Kassi Snay, 27, Salineville, taking her into custody for the warrant and transported her to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the area of West State Street and North Ellsworth Avenue at 6:26 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised that a red Jeep with a temporary tag was all over the roadway. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 6:10 p.m. Saturday for a reported warrant check. Officers were unable to contact anyone at the residence.
— Officers responded to the area of South Broadway Avenue and Franklin Avenue at 3:20 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised a vehicle had been weaving in and out of traffic, nearly causing an accident. Officers located the vehicle parking in a private driveway, and officers spoke with the driver, Amanda Swanson, 36, Salem, observing indicators of possible impairment. Field sobriety tests were conducted showing Swanson to be impaired, and she was taken into custody and transported to the police department where she was offered a breath test, the results of which showed her to be over the legal limit and Swanson was charged with OVI.
— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 2:37 p.m. Saturday regarding strange emails being sent to their phone. The person advised that they had just gotten new phones but were having issues with them, and officers advised the caller to take them back to their phone provider to see if they could assist them with the issue.
— Officers spoke with a person in the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 2:04 p.m. regarding an abandoned school bus parked in the parking lot at Reilly Elementary School. Officers advised the caller that the school was aware of the bus and the school would have to tow it off the property since the lot is private.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 12:52 p.m. Saturday for a report of possible drug activity in the area. Officers obtained the information and forwarded it to the Columbiana County Drug Enforcement Task Force Agent.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Aetna Street at 12:31 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers were advised that the matter was verbal in nature only and the female half decided to the residence for the rest of the day.
— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 10:20 a.m. Saturday regarding finding an American flag in their mailbox. The caller advised that it was not their flag.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of East State Street at 9:11 a.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a man who was unconscious on the ground and did not appear to be breathing. Officers found that the person in question was just sleeping and not in need of emergency services and advised them to move along.
— Kaylee Carlise, 19, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle struck a vehicle driven southbound in the 600 block of East Pershing Street by Jennifer Thomas, 36, Salem, while turning onto East Pershing from a private drive at 10:05 p.m. Friday. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 8 p.m. Friday to check for a person with an active warrant. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate them.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 6:23 p.m. Friday for a report of criminal trespassing. The caller advised that a man was not wanted at the residence and officers advised them that due to it being an apartment building a neighbor is allowed to invite people over, but the man in question did leave the residence.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 5:07 p.m. Friday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest on a man attempting to solicit a woman for money. The man in question was taken into custody without incident and transported to the police department for processing prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail. The man’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Kaiser’s Towing.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Elm Avenue at 4:25 p.m. Friday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the area.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:35 p.m. Friday for a reported scam. The caller advised that he was called by someone claiming to be from the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, claiming they needed $260 to release his friend from jail. He went and got the money and later found it to be a scam and wanted the incident documented. He was given the report number for his bank.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Oak Street at 3:27 p.m. Friday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that someone had cut the tire on his electric scooter while he was at the park. Officers watched the park cameras and didn’t see anybody go near the scooter.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:18 p.m. Friday about a reported forgery. The person advised that someone had cashed a check at WesBanco for $1,105 under their name. Officers advised that a report would be made.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Mound Street at 1:13 p.m. Friday for a wellness check. The caller advised that the man was drunk and on the front porch of his residence with two small children. Officers spoke with the man in question who advised he was drinking a beer but not drunk. Officers didn’t observe any impairment from the man and spoke with both children, who were happy and not in any distress.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 11:41 a.m. Friday regarding an incident which occurred on June 14 when a delivery driver made a threatening remark to her juvenile child while she was working. She advised that later that night when the juvenile was walking to her vehicle the same person was standing outside and began to follow them to their vehicle. The caller requested an extra patrol during the closing hours of the business.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 8:27 a.m. for a parking complaint. The caller advised that an unknown person had left a white bus with no plates in the parking lot, and they wanted it removed. Officers advised the caller that since the vehicle was in a private lot the caller would have to contact a two service and have it removed at its owner’s expense.
