Salem

— Officers responded to the area of North Howard Avenue and West Eighth Street at 5:01 p.m. Thursday for a reported fight. Officers spoke with two men who advised they were brothers and arguing over a dog. Neither man wanted anything done and had resolved their differences while officers were on scene.

— Officers responded to the area of Hawley Avenue and East Third Street at 2:43 p.m. Thursday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that a vehicle was on blocks and parked in the roadway. Officers observed the vehicle with the front tires on a ramp and spoke with the owner advising them that they cannot work on a vehicle on a city street and that they have 48 hours to remove the vehicle from the roadway.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Washington Avenue at 2:35 p.m. Thursday to assist the Leetonia Police Department in delivering a message. Officers were unable to speak with them at the door and advised Leetonia officers.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 1:35 p.m. Thursday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with contracting a person to be served with a protection order. Officers spoke with the person, but the sheriff’s office were unable to respond at that time to serve the order, and the person in question was advised that a deputy would be in contact to serve the order.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 1:44 p.m. Thursday for a report of theft. The manager advised that they had video footage of an employee stealing money, and the employee in question admitted to taking the money which was returned to the store. Officers advised that she would receive a summons from the court and that if she did not appear at the court, a warrant for her arrest would be issued.

— Officers responded to the 1600 block of Westview Court at 10:17 a.m. Thursday for a wellness check. The caller advised that the woman’s garage door was open all night and was still open that morning. Officers spoke with the woman who advised they were fine.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 8:31 a.m. Thursday for a reported missing juvenile. Information was gathered and the juvenile was entered into NCIC as a runaway.

— Officers responded to the 2400 block of Oak Street at 2:50 a.m. Thursday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that a woman he had spoken to on Tinder had been contacting him non-stop since Monday. Officers contacted the woman and left a voicemail advising her to stop contacting him, and the caller was advised to block the woman and contact officers if the issue continued.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 10:42 p.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious person. Officers spoke with the man who advised that he worked there, and it was found that they had walked out of the hospital without being discharged and the fire department and EMT transported them to the Salem Regional Medical Center.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Maple Street at 10:13 p.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that they were pushed by a woman. When officers arrived, they found the caller was visibly intoxicated and he advised that while he was upstairs the woman had pushed him, and he had fallen. The woman advised that he was never pushed and fell from being intoxicated. Officers advised the caller to come to the police department to fill out a statement the next day.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Franklin Avenue at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday for a complaint of numerous cats around the property. The caller was concerned with the cats, which officers took photos of and will forward to the housing department for the conditions of the residence.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of West Pershing Street at 8:48 p.m. Wednesday for a warrant arrest. Officers spoke with the person in question, Christopher Stapleton, 48, Salem, taking them into custody and transporting them to the police department for processing prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the first block of Sunset Boulevard at 6:43 p.m. Wednesday for a report of two juveniles that were lost. After speaking with a parent on the phone, the juveniles were transported to a relative’s house.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Eighth Street at 6:28 p.m. Wednesday for a reported fight. Officers spoke with both parties who advised that everything was mutual, and they were okay. Due to neither party wanting to pursue charges, officers advised them to separate.

— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Oak Street at 4:59 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised they observed a woman who appeared to be intoxicated at the city pool with what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage inside her backpack. Officers spoke with the person in question and asked to see inside the backpack, locating an empty alcoholic beverage can. Officers had the person contact their spouse for a ride and advised them they were being trespassed from the pool and escorted them outside. The person was served with a trespass notice and advised they were no longer welcome at the pool, and officers stood by until their ride arrived.

— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday about a reported stolen Amazon package. The person requested an extra watch in the neighborhood.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 3:52 p.m. Wednesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an alleged sex offense. The person was taken into custody and released with a mandatory court summons.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday for a report of possible debris in the alley left over from the residence being cleaned out. The company advised that they were not done, and they would make sure everything was cleaned up.

— Officers responded to Waterworth Memorial Park at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday for a reported runaway juvenile. Officers obtained pertinent information regarding the juvenile from the mother and entered them into NCIC as a runaway.

— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Franklin Avenue at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised that while walking a dog charged her off leash but did not bite her. Officers spoke with the owner, advising them to keep the dog on the leash at all times. While on scene officers observed the dog to be leashed.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:23 p.m. Wednesday about a reported domestic dispute. Officers advised the person of their options and to call the police department if anything else was needed.

Sheriff’s Office

— A woman on Buck Road, Knox Township reported at 10:42 p.m. Thursday that her 17-year-old grandson has been getting harassed for more than a year now by another teen from West Township.

— A woman on Brookfield Street, Center Township reported at 5:12 p.m. Thursday that a man from Center Township was harassing her through social media messenger and was going to come to her residence. She was advised how to obtain a protection order.

— Deputies at 3:39 a.m. Thursday checked the area of a 911 open line call near Scroggs Road and state Route 154, but did not locate anyone. The call was from a cell phone and the voicemail was not set up.

— Deputies were dispatched at 9:41 p.m. Wednesday to state Route 7, Fairfield Township, for a welfare check. Deputies spoke with the person, who said they were fine and the only issue was with the caller for the welfare check.

— A domestic violence incident was reported at 7:36 p.m. Wednesday on Hamilton Road, Unity Township, where a deputy responded. A refusal to prosecute was signed and the parties involved separated for the night.

— A suspicious person was reported at 6:12 p.m. Wednesday on Beeson Mill Road, Fairfield Township, who did not know where they were. A deputy spoke to the person who advised they needed to go to the hospital. Leetonia EMS transported the person to Salem Regional Medical Center in Salem.

— A woman on Jimtown Road, Unity Township reported at 6 p.m. Wednesday that her daughter is at a relative’s residence in East Palestine and when she went there, the relative would not let her daughter go with her. She was advised to have East Palestine police escort her back to the residence.

— A man on Main Street, Hanoverton reported at 2:51 p.m. Wednesday that his neighbor keeps parking an RV in the alley, but has since moved it.

— Deputies responded at 1:59 a.m. Wednesday to the Dollar General in Damascus for people parking a car near the dumpsters and walking toward Alliance on U.S. Route 62. While deputies were en route, the people returned to the vehicle and the vehicle left. Deputies checked the Dollar General building and the U.S. Route 62 Storage and did not find any evidence of damage or tampering.

— Deputies responded at 1:36 a.m. Wednesday to state Route 45, Center Township for a report of multiple juveniles trespassing and possibly vandalizing property. Deputies did not locate any juveniles or any evidence of vandalism.

— A woman on Ellsworth Avenue, West Township reported at 10:12 p.m. Tuesday that she was driving westbound on U.S. Route 30 in East Rochester, West Township, when a vehicle in front of her stopped and a man got out of the vehicle with a firearm. She drove away and went home. A deputy checked the area for a silver hatchback, but didn’t find the vehicle.

— A 911 hangup call was reported at 9:36 p.m. Tuesday in the 10000 block of Plymouth Street, Hanoverton, with deputies checking the area, but making no contact.

— A man on U.S. Route 30, West Township, reported a suspicious person at 8:33 p.m. Tuesday, noting that a person on an ATV drove past his residence multiple times. A deputy checked the area, but didn’t find anyone.

— Deputies responded at 3:36 a.m. Tuesday to an active alarm at Winona Frozen Foods, Whinnery Road, Butler Township. The building was checked and appeared secure.

— Deputies were dispatched at 4:02 p.m. Tuesday to state Route 45, Madison Township, for a domestic violence report. All parties involved separated and left the residence, with no violence or threats occurring.

— Personnel from Duke & Duchess, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township, reported at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday that a counterfeit $10 bill was in their money count. A deputy confiscated the counterfeit $10 bill and it was put into the evidence room at the sheriff’s office.

— A couple on state Route 172, West Township, reported at 10:44 a.m. Monday that someone was trying to open bank accounts in their names.

Leetonia

— An officer responded at 9:19 p.m. June 11 to check on a female subject who was contemplating driving home intoxicated with her juvenile son. She had argued with her boyfriend, who threw her keys toward the railroad tracks. She couldn’t locate them and got a ride home.

— Police performed a welfare check at 1:13 p.m. June 11 for a female Coal Alley resident who had expressed suicidal tendencies on social media. The woman went to the emergency room for evaluation.

— Officers investigated a dispute at 3:11 p.m. June 11 to the splash pad to investigate a dispute between two juveniles. Both sets of parents were advised that the children are not to be there unattended due to their age, which is clearly posted on the splash pad signage.

— A juvenile was sent to stay overnight with his grandparents, after police responded at 6:39 pm. June 6 to a domestic dispute with his parents, whom he alleged beat him. Visible injuries to both the mother and juvenile were photographed as potential evidence.

— Andrew Grubbs, no address listed, was involved in a rollover crash at 8:10 a.m. June 6 in the area of state Route 344 and Washington Street Extension. Grubbs had been driving a pickup truck east and turned onto Washington Street Extension and his load shifts spilling a load of ammonia sulfate fertilizer off a grain trailer onto the roadway. Local fire authorities had to contact the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for directions on the cleanup.

–An officer provided a check of a property in the 300 block of Columbia Street at 3:58 a.m. June 4, after a male caller reported his wife had observed someone on her porch and then walk to the rear of the house. Upon arrival, he checked the perimeter, didn’t locate anyone and cleared.

–Four unknown persons were observed by a caller at 2:30 a.m. June 3 in the 200 block of Oak Street walking from the neighbor’s yard to the woods. The neighbor, who had his back door open, was notified and seemed unconcerned.

–Shane Blair, of Canton, was arrested at 9:07 p.m. June 2 in the area of State and Water streets on a charge of drug abuse instruments, as a result of a routine traffic stop. The car’s driver, Adam B. Valentin Olzar Jr., was advised of a warrant out of Summit County and released. The odor of burnt marijuana was detected in the area of front seat passenger Blair, who was asked to step out of the vehicle and dropped a hypodermic needle in the process on the ground. After handcuffing him for officer safety, Blair admitted to using heroin. A search of the vehicle also turned up multiple THC pens, a plastic bag of marijuana and some packages of synthetic marijuana. Upon learning he would be transported to jail and warned of the ramifications if he had anything still on him, Blair admitted to having a small package of cocaine on his person. All the evidence was bagged and sent for testing upon Blair being booked into jail.

Columbiana

— Terrance Brown, of Youngstown, was served at 8:15 p.m. June 7 with an active warrant out of Lucas County.

— Taylor Saunders, no address listed, was cited at 2:26 p.m. June 5 near South Elm and Pittsburgh streets after a traffic stop.

— Sean Macgillivray, of Akron, was cited at 7:39 p.m. June 4 in the area of Salem and Middle streets with expired registration after a routine traffic stop.

— Jeremy McNish was cited at 5:46 p.m. June 4 for driving under suspension at a traffic stop in the 44000 block of state Route 14.

— Following a private property crash at 10:38 a.m. June 1 in the 44000 block of state Route 14, Gerald Yerkey, of New Waterford, was cited for driving under suspension.
