Betty J. Skiba
SALEM – Betty J. Skiba, 80, died at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born Aug. 12, 1938, in Alpena, Mich., the daughter of the late Bethel Sr. and Denetta (Schultz) Smith.
Betty will always be remembered as a good family mother. She enjoyed crocheting and was Baptist by faith.
Her husband, Gerald Lee Skiba, whom she married Aug.15, 1957, preceded her in death on May 19, 2008.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Crick of Salem and Sherri Moore of Lisbon; five sons, Steve (Pam) Skiba of Salem, Scott Skiba of Salem, Willis Skiba of Salem, Jerry (Lori) Skiba of Salem, Wally Skiba of Salem; daughter in law, Tracy Skiba of New Garden; 23 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Stevens, Dixie Winters, Darleen Cardwell, and Phyllis Summers; brothers, Bethel Jr., Charles, Kevin and Dewain Smith.
She was also preceded in death by three sons, Stanley, Edward, and Wayne “Rocky” Skiba; a grandson, Kevin Joseph Skiba; two sisters, Lela Goldback and Karen Hobby; and three brothers, Lee, Donald and Jerry Smith.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 at Stark Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Mary Jo Bruinooge officiating. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Hope Cemetery.
