Albert F. Torrence
EAST PALESTINE — Albert F. Torrence, 92, of East Palestine, died Tuesday evening at St. Elizabeth Hospital Boardman Campus.
Born May 19, 1926, in East Palestine, he was the son of the late David and Rosina (Olivetti) Torrence.
Mr. Torrence was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He enlisted in the US Navy, from 1944-46 and served in the South Pacific as a signalman. After discharge, he went to work for his brother at the Torrence Coal Company as a drag line operator. Later, he worked for Babcock & Wilcox in Beaver Falls, Pa., before retiring as a foreman in 1987. After retiring, he worked as a groundskeeper for various local golf courses.
He was preceded in death on Feb. 26, 2016, by his wife, the former Mary DeMuzio.
Survivors include a son, Albert (Maria) Torrence of Beaver, Pa.; a daughter, Paulette (George) Guy of East Palestine; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Edward and David Torrence, both of East Palestine.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Linsley-Royal Funeral Home with Deacon Chris Evans officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with a reception to be held at Daus Dutch Haus in Columbiana following burial.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
