Nancy Day Pinney
LAKE LURE, N.C. – Nancy Blanch Day Pinney, 84, passed away on Aug. 4, 2019 surrounded by her family.
Nancy was one of five children born in Ohio to Leonard and Edith Day. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, JM, Skip and Hurst Day. She married Hubert R Pinney in 1952 in Westerville, Ohio.
Her life adventures including completing a Doctorate in Education while raising her family; teaching sixth grade; making a difference as West Branch Schools Superintendent and leading a school system as county superintendent.
In 1999 Nan and Hugh retired to Lake Lure and embraced life here in Hickory Nut Gorge. Nan volunteered at the Visitors Center; served as co-president of Lake Lure Newcomers with Hugh; served as a member of the library board; volunteered with Hospice of Rutherford and was an active member of Fairfield Mountain Chapel where she sang in the choir, served as an elder for a number of years and implemented the Shepherd’s program at the church.
She loved to travel, read, tend her flowers and spend time with her family. She was always making sure others were okay and so many are blessed with rich memories and hearts filled with love because of her.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Hugh; daughter, Debbie; son, Jeffrey R. Pinney and daughter-in-law Monique; son, Todd B. Pinney; sister, Tahna Pasqua and brother-in-law Larry Pasqua; sister-in-law Barbie Day; grandchildren, Gary R Pinney, Alexis Hope Pinney, Alivia Brook Pinney and Rhea Claire Pinney; and five nieces and nephews.
No services will be held.
