Dolores “Dotty” Anderson
SALEM– Dolores “Dotty” Anderson, 90, of Salem, Ohio, passed away April 27, 2020, in Marietta, Ga. Dotty was born in 1929 to Lewis and Felda (Bush) Brown. She graduated from Greenford High School in 1947. Later that year, she accepted a position at E.W. Bliss where she met her future husband, Lemuel P. Anderson.
Dotty was a devoted wife and mother who always spoke fondly of the memories of her family life during the ’50s and ’60s. She found child-rearing fulfilling and considered her family her proudest accomplishment.
Throughout her life, Dotty volunteered her time and talents generously. She served as poll worker, gave blood, and beautified her community as a member and officer of the Salem Garden Club. She loved decorating for the Christmas season and spent a great deal of effort making the Garden Club’s Holiday Tour of Homes successful and memorable. Throughout the years, she made hundreds of wreaths for family and friends and was well known for her beautiful Christmas trees. She spread seasonal joy by teaching others to make elegant wreaths and swags.
Dotty valued her friends and loved to spend time with them. For over 60 years, she played cards with her three “500” Card Clubs. For many years she enjoyed going to dinner with her Wednesday Night Club and meeting friends for dinner at The Salem Golf Club.
Dolores is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Lemuel, and her beloved son, Craig. She is survived by two daughters, Chris Chamberlain of Gainesville, Ga. and Cindy Anderson of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Patricia Hambach of Warren, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
The family plans to hold a private internment service at a later date. Donations in memory of Dotty may be made to Holy Trinity English Lutheran Church 1089 E. State St., Salem; or to The Salvation Army P.O. Box 703, Salem.
