SALEM ä Gerald Powell, 78, passed away Oct. 10, 2021 peacefully at home following an extended illness.
Jerry was born Sept. 18, 1943 to the late Walter and Bernice (Knoedler) Powell.
He was a 1961 graduate of United High School.
Survivors include a son, Todd (Denice) Powell of Mars, Pa.; a daughter, Tina Powell of Amherst, Ohio; and a son, Troy Powell of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Jean) Powell of Massillon; a sister, Marylou (Rich) Cope of Leetonia; Cathie Elliott of Salem with whom he had made his home for 11 years; and Jeanette Stone of Salem, a close friend.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, sisters Janice Martig and Betty Kibler and brother Raymond Powell.
Jerry worked in retail most of his life, managing a Dollar General, Quality Farm and Fleet, and Stambaughs; most recently he was employed by Salem Senior Housing.
He had been a member of the Salem Jaycees, enjoyed golfing, fishing and feeding the birds.
There was no funeral service but there may possibly be a memorial at a later date.
