Dem chairman standing up for candidate Phillips
To the editor:
In response to a recent letter to the editor in the Salem News, I would like to stand up for the decision of the Democratic Central Committee to endorse Representative Debbie Phillips for Ohio State Board of Education.
Debbie has been a tireless advocate for public schools while in the legislature. She has fought for charter school reform and led the battle to save public schools. She is knowledgable, experienced, and respected in Columbus and around the state. We need someone on state school board that will help public education advocates fight against charter school corruption by making reasonable reforms and holding them accountable.
Not so long ago, Craig Brown was rejected by the voters of Columbiana County and the Democratic Central Committee for his lewd and disrespectful treatment of young women and employees. His bad behavior has been well documented.
Moreover, in recent elections Mr. Brown has openly supported charter school advocates for elected office. The Democratic Party and our local committee stands with public schools and promotes candidates for office who will fight for our children. We endorsed the right candidate to make our public schools stronger. Debbie will represent us well.
Nick Barborak, Chairman,
Columbiana County Democratic Party
