YOUR SIDE: The Readers Take Over

Celebrate St. Paul School!

To the editor:

What a glorious start it was to Thursday, January 25, 2018, as St. Paul School (SPS) students and adults celebrated at Mass our parish’s patronal feast day: the Conversion of St. Paul. I couldn’t stop smiling as young pupils shared Scripture and sang hymns with devotion, enthusiasm, and joy. And all assembled heard these words in the reading: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16: 15)

A retired public-school educator and proud graduate in the SPS Class of 1962, I am delighted that this faith-based experience is still available for today’s young people. St. Paul’s focus on “Educating the Mind, Body, and Spirit” is truly evident–and inspiring.

As National Catholic Schools Week approaches, I am confident that St. Paul students will enjoy the planned activities and again shine–particularly, when Bishop Murray celebrates Mass in our church.

May I congratulate St. Paul pastor Father Bob Edwards, SPS Principal Dave Pancurak, the talented teachers, and devoted staff on the results of their efforts, expertise, and love for these children. Thank you all for giving today’s kids what our SPS Class of ’62 received years ago: a first-rate education, character development, and our Catholic religion. For all of these, we remain grateful to St. Paul School in Salem.
