A successful Lowell Iden Memorial Breakfast and Trap Shoot

To the editor:

Thank you everyone for the wonderful support of the 16th annual Lowell Iden Memorial Breakfast and Trap Shoot. The Salem Hunting Club hosted this event Aug. 3. We exceeded the number of breakfasts sold and had an all-around wonderful turnout. The weather was beautiful, the help plentiful and the attendance was the best ever.

Due to family, friends, club members, merchants and general public we continue to grow the Lowell Iden-Larry Iler Scholarship Fund.

The Salem Hunting Club is proud to honor, in their memory, these two men for which the award is named. They were special men who were friends and longtime officers of the club.

This year we gave four $500 scholarships to local students. This year’s recipients are:

Garret Cox, son of Rick and Kristy Cox of Kensington. He is a graduate of David Anderson High School in Lisbon. He will be attending Eastern Gateway Community College for an associate’s degree in environmental science.

Tanner Utt, son of Karl and Connie Utt of Wellsville. He will be attending his second year at Hocking College with his major of fish management and agriculture sciences.

Makenzie Jeric, daughter of Allison Jeric of Salem. She is a graduate of Salem High School and will be attending LaRoche University in Pittsburgh for a major in biology.

Olivia Knauf, daughter of Jason and Cheryl Knauf of Hanoverton. She is a graduate of Salem High School and will be attending Youngstown State University with a major in biology.

The 50/50 drawing was won by Arial Jean Stacey and a special thank you for returning some of the winnings back to the scholarship fund.

A special thank you also to Tom Craig who donated the special custom made T. Vosler Knife to be raffled off. The winner of the knife was Jim Fisher of Salem.
