Beautification Committee is grateful for planter support
To the editor:
The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce’s Beautification Committee continued its tradition of having a successful Adopt A Planter Campaign. Within four days of releasing the information to the public the planters sold out. Donations continued to come in which will be used to replace mid-summer flowers, fertilizer, paint, new scarecrows (fall), and much needed red bows for the winter urns.
We appreciate the following people for supporting our efforts by sponsoring flower urns/hanging baskets. They are: Goldie Burrier, Butech Bliss/Jock Buta, Cynthia Calvin, Patty Colian, Consumers National Bank/Shelley Bergman, The Edgerton’s, Margie Engle, Daniel L. Evanoff, Harrington, Hoppe, and Mitchell, Ltd./Attorney Shawna L’Italien, Robin Heestand, Huntington Bank/Jennifer Ling, Madelyn Knepper, Sally Mainwaring, Robert and Susan Merry, Amy Rieck, Salem Community Foundation/Melissa Costa, Salem Fitness Center/Karen Divers, Joe Sedzmak, Lisa Shafer, Brad and Sue Tolson and United States Postal Service – Salem employees.
The Beautification Committee would also like to thank Chappell’s House of Frames/Donna Chappell, David and Elizabeth Enquist, Patricia Keefer, Ernest and Diane Maenz, Gina McQuillan State Farm, Richard and Beth Miller, Denny and Melissa Niederhiser, Plummer and Jackson Attorneys/Atty. Barbara Plummer, Salem Car Wash/Ken Rapini, Mayor John Berlin and the city of Salem, Salem Parks Director Shane Franks and foreman Jim Grimm, Salem Rotary Foundation and Brad and Susan Tolson who generously donated to support beautification in downtown Salem.
To maintain the beauty of the planters throughout the summer months, the Beautification Committee relies upon local businesses to provide water for the planters. Those businesses are: Attorney Geoff and Kim Goll, Mike’s Penn Grille/Mike Cranmer and Stratos Wealth Partners/ Mary Winch Korff.
Sincere gratitude goes to the faithful Salem Beautification members working endlessly to beautifying our town. They include Sara Baer, Jamie Benner, Betty Colian, Molly Copacia, Robin Falk, Cami Franzen, Linda Grubb, Isabel Huber, Carolyn Jones, Kate Oesch, Terri Riley and Shelby Shambach.
Many thanks to Tom Corso for maintaining the flowers at the Salem News. Due to COVID-19, our community needed a boost this year and the above supporters understood this need. Don’t you just love a small town? Yes, we do!
Karen L. Carter,
Salem Beautification Committee Co-Chairmen
