Shrove Tuesday supper

GREENFORD-The community is invited to the Shrove Tuesday pancake supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today in the fellowship hall at the Greenford Lutheran Church, 7450 W. South Range Road. Donations from this event will help send children to Camp Frederick. Pastor Michael McCarthy will preside at the Ash Wednesday worship service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Fairfield Ruritan Club

COLUMBIANA-The Fairfield Ruritan Club's monthly meeting begins at 7 p.m. Thursday at Heck's Restaurant.

Salem 1955 lunch planned

SALEM-The Salem High School Class of 1955 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 29 at Adele's Place.

Citywide Pinewood Derby

SALEM-The public is invited to participate in a Citywide Pinewood Derby, organized by St. Paul's Pack 6 Cub Scouts, at 2:30 p.m. March 4 at the First Friends Church. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. There will be a car building workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 22 and 29 at 777 S. Ellsworth Ave. Participants may pre-register at the workshop for an entry fee of $5, or $10 which includes an entry fee and a car kit. The entry fee at the door the day of the race is $6. Women's Night Out tables

SALEM-Vendor/advertising tables and tickets are still available for the Salem Community Center's third annual Women's Night Out on March 28. The event centers around information, products and services for females of all ages. To ensure a successful night of information and entertainment, area businesses are encouraged to join us by becoming an advertiser and/or vendor. CAUV program deadline

CANFIELD-Mahoning County Farm Bureau would like to remind property owners receiving benefits through the Current Agricultural Use Value (CAUV) program that in accordance with Ohio Law 5713.31 the renewal applications must be returned prior to the first Monday of March to the county auditor in order for the land owner to remain on the program. If not returned, the property will be removed from the CAUV program and recoupment of taxes will become payable next year.

The CAUV program is a benefit to landowners that assists in maintaining area farms and it is required that those on the program must annually certify the land is being used for agriculture production.

A program explaining "How Current Use Agricultural Use Values are Calculated" is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Feb. 25 at the Joyce Brooks Conference Center/Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, Canfield. Attorney Larry Gearhart, Ohio Farm Bureau will be making the presentation. The program is sponsored by the Mahoning County Farm Bureau and there is no charge for Farm Bureau members, $10 for non members.
