Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dougherty mark 50th wedding anniversary

Richard and Carol (McQuilkin) Dougherty of Salem recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at dinner at the Spread Eagle Tavern. The celebration was hosted by their daughters, Kelly Laubacher and Colleen Dougherty-Sweeney and their son-in-law, Scot Sweeney. An open house was also hosted by the couple's special friend, Marilyn (Malarchik) Herron.

The former Carol McQuilkin, daughter of Carl and Margaret (Williams) McQuilkin, married Richard Dougherty, son of Gale and Martha May (Burcaw) Dougherty, on Aug. 25, 1962 at the First Presbyterian Church in Salem. Dr. Bruce Milligan officiated at the ceremony.

Mr. Dougherty retired from AT&T and Mrs. Dougherty retired from teaching.

Their granddaughters are Alyssa and Lauren Laubacher of Salem and step-grandchildren, Shauna and Ryan Sweeney of Westboro, Mass.
