West Branch wins again, outlasts Carrollton

West Branch 13, Carrollton 7

CARROLLTON - West Branch hasn't exactly been in many defensive struggles yet this season, but Friday the Warriors from Beloit outlasted previously unbeaten Carrollton 13-7.

Brenden Wells became the school's all-time leading rusher with 129 yards on 23 carries and a touchdown. Wells broke the school record of Kim Nezbeth (2,588 yards) and stands at 2,687. Wells previously broke the school record for touchdowns held by Conner Thompson (34).

West Branch was also led by Troy James who was 4-of-8 for 68 yards and a touchdown - a 17-yard strike to Kip DeShields. Both West Branch scores came in the second quarter and the two teams played a scoreless second half.

West Branch (2-3, 2-0 NBC) plays Friday at Minerva.

Carrollton (4-1, 1-1 NBC) plays at Marlington.

Springfield 25, East Palestine 8

EAST PALESTINE - Springfield's Hunter Snyder ran for 143 yards on 16 carries to lead the Tigers past East Palestine 25-8.

Ryan Kohler added 88 yards on 13 carries and a score for the Tigers.

For East Palestine, Nick Monteleone had 102 yards on eight catches including a 33-yard touchdown catch.

Lucas Cope was 10-of-17 for 108 yards with a touchdown.

Springfield (2-3, 1-1 ITCL Tier 1) hosts Crestview Friday.

East Palestine (0-5, 0-2 ITCL Tier 1) hosts Mineral Ridge.

Crestview 71, Mineral Ridge 7

MINERAL RIDGE - Dimitri Gregory set a school record with a 99-yard touchdown reception from Colin Gilbert as Crestview rolled to a 71-7 win over Mineral Ridge on Friday Night.

The Rebels jumped out with 34 points in the opening quarter and never looked back en route to the big win.

The Rams lone score came on a kickoff return for a touchdown by Steven Phillips.

Nick Blower carried the ball 14 times for the Rebels, racking up 188 yards and three scores. Gilbert finished the evening 5-of-9 passing for 200 yards and the score to Gregory.

Matt Hardenbrook also had eight carries for the Rebels totaling 105 yards.

Crestview (5-0, 2-0 ITCL Tier 1) plays Friday at Springfield.

Mineral Ridge (2-3, 1-1 ITCL Tier 1) travels to East Palestine.
