Leetonia High School Class of 1962 meets for 50-year reunion

The Leetonia High School Class of 1962 enjoyed an event-filled weekend August 23-26 to celebrate its 50th-year reunion. Festivities began on Aug. 23 with a tour of the Leetonia K-12 School, led by Superintendent Robert Mehno. Many classmates attended the Leetonia-Lisbon football game, known as the "Spaghetti Bowl" that evening. Events on Aug. 24 began with breakfast at Das Dutch Haus in Columbiana, followed by a tour of the Leetonia Library and dedication of their Community Action project two picnic tables on the grass area behind the library. A banquet and program were held that evening at Dutch Village Inn. The main speaker was Tony Less, Vice Admiral, Retired, U. S. Navy, who commanded and flew with the Blue Angels. A special guest was one of their high school teachers, Ann Topie of Salem. The American Legion Hall in Leetonia was the site of a pizza party on Saturday night and also breakfast on Sunday morning. Class members donated more than $1,900 to the Leetonia Alumni Scholarship Fund. In addition to Ohio, classmates came from Arizona, Florida, Texas, Illinois, Nebraska, South Carolina and Pennsylvania to attend the reunion.
