Girls Soccer

Salem 0, Marlington 0

ALLIANCE - The Salem Lady Quakers played their regular season finale to a 0-0 tie at Marlington. The Salem defense played well led by Rylee and Raegan Meals, Maddy Schwartz, Cyreena Cooope and Emma Wilson. Mackenzie Schwartz also recorded seven saves in goal.

Salem begins tournament play Monday at home against Southeast at Reilly Stadium in what will be the team's last home contest of the year.

West Branch 1, Minerva 1

BELOIT - West Branch and Minerva played to a 1-1 tie Wednesday. Scoring for West Branch (6-6-4) was Sarah Pigza on an assist from Haley Davis. Lauren Martig had three saves in goal.

Josie Chaddock scored for Minerva.


Boardman outlasts

Salem in five

BOARDMAN - The Salem volleyball team fell to Boardman in five sets Wednesday 17-25, 25-27, 25-20, 25-20, 11-25. Salem nearly rallied from two sets down to win the match.

Leading Salem were Camrin Costal with 12 kills and four blocks. Tori Jones added nine kills and four digs. Megan Lehwald added nine digs and an ace, and Katherine Stiff had 18 assists.

The Salem jayvee volleyball team (14-5) lost to Boardman 25-21, 25-21. Salem was led by Dori Miller with three kills and an ace. Kelly Barley had 10 assists.

Salem (12-8, 9-4 NBC) hosts Carrollton tonight.

Boys Soccer

Crestview 7, Jackson-Milton 0

NEW WATERFORD - The Crestview boys soccer team extended its winning streak to 10 games with a 7-0 win over Jackson-Milton. The win also gave the Rebels a share of the Tier 1 Inter-Tri County League crown with South Range.

Greg Bable scored three goals for Crestview and broke the school record for goals in a season (35, previously 33). Josh Schlueter, Andrew Batchelor, Adam Roberts and Josh McGoogan all scored as well. Tobin Goss had two assists.

Schlueter along with Curtis Veiock, Caleb McGath, Tony Marr and Bable all added assists.

Derek Bable recorded his eighth shutout of the season recording three saves.

Crestview (12-2-1) will end its regular season Monday hosting Warren JFK.

United 4, Columbiana 2

HANOVERTON - United dropped Columbiana 4-2 in soccer action Wednesday. Leading United was Cole Weikart with three goals. Blake Montgomery added a goal and an assist. Andrew Martin had two assists, and Ian Hargrove had an assist.

United (10-5-1, 5-4-1 ITCL Tier 1) will begin tournament play Tuesday at home against Warren JFK.

Heartland Christian 3,

East Liverpool 1

COLUMBIANA - Senior Sam Flynn scored two goals for Heartland Christian in a 3-1 win over East Liverpool Wednesday. Caleb House added a goal on a direct kick.

Kyle Burgess tallied an assist, and Drew Fountain had 15 saves in goal.

Heartland (7-7-2) opens tournament play 4 p.m. Tuesday against Ursuline at the former South Range Middle School field in Greenford.


Marlington 3, West Branch 2

ALLIANCE - Marlington edged West Branch 3-2 in tennis action Wednesday.

West Branch concluded its season at 9-8.

Junior High Volleyball

Salem vs. Carrollton

SALEM - The Salem seventh grade volleyball team lost 25-17, 18-25, 11-25 to Carrollton Wednesday. Leading Salem was Morgan Murphy with eight points and three aces. Allee Davidson-Chuck added seven points, seven aces, and two kills. Paige Butcher had seven points and four aces. Lacey Ewing added five points, and two kills. Kayla Beight also had two points and an ace.

Salem (6-11) begins tournament play Saturday at Marlington.

SALEM - The Salem eighth grade volleyball team won its final regular season game 25-8, 25-19. Salem ended the year with a record of 12-5. Leading scorers were Chloe Turnbull with four aces and two kills. Elizabeth Aukerman added five aces and three tips. Salem will play at Minerva on Saturday.
