Warriors one win away from NBC share

West Branch 35, Marlington 14

BELOIT - The West Branch Warriors are one win away from a share of the Northeastern Buckeye Conference crown. The Warriors knocked off previously unbeaten Marlington 35-14 behind a 356-yard rushing performance by Brenden Wells. Wells crushed the school record for rushing yards in a game - previously 259. The senior running back found the end zone twice on two runs of seven yards.

Troy James also found the end zone twice on runs of 17 and 1-yard.

Marlington running back Dymonte Thomas injured his ankle on the final play of the first half and did not return.

The win moves West Branch into a tie with the Dukes at 5-1 in league play. A win next week at home over Salem will give the Warriors a share of the conference crown.

United 56, Jackson-Milton 21

HANOVERTON - United defeated Jackson-Milton 56-21 Friday. Leading the Eagles was Garrett Beech with 128 yards rushing on seven attempts and three touchdowns. Beech was also 5-for-13 passing with 87 yards and two more scores through the air. Martin also returned a kickoff 80 yards for a score.

Mike Martin finished with 113 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns. Caleb Conser and Jared Powell both had TD catches.

United (6-3, 4-2 ITCL Tier 1) closes out the regular season Friday at Mineral Ridge.

South Range 35, Lisbon 12

LISBON - South Range topped Lisbon 35-12 to set up a battle of league unbeatens next week with Crestview.

For Range, Ryan Miller was 6-of-11 for 181 yards and three touchdowns. Robbie Seman had four catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns. David McCabe added 61 yards on four carries and a touchdown. Jake Arsuffi had 47 yards on seven carries. Arsuffi also had a 53-yard touchdown reception.

Lisbon's Brandon Barnes eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season with 61 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown. Frankie Morrell added Lisbon's other score on a 1-yard run.

South Range (7-2, 6-0 ITCL Tier 1) travels to Crestview Friday.

Lisbon (2-7) hosts East Palestine.
