Columbiana Community Foundation approves $12,015 in grants

COLUMBIANA - The quarterly meeting of the Columbiana Community Foundation was held Oct. 30 at the Columbiana Public Library.

The board approved grants totaling $12,015 that were recommended by the Screening Committee Chairman Carol Czarneski; $5000 was granted to the Firestone Park Board to cover repairs on Shelter No. 1 in Firestone Park; $715 was granted to the Siembida and Boggs Foundation to assist the Columbiana Tourism Bureau in the purchase of office furniture and signage; $5,000 was granted to the Way Station to help create a children's area that will expand their ability in providing services to needy single parents; $1,300 was granted to underwrite a Crown Theater Production musical in December. The event will be sponsored by the Columbiana Community Foundation, free of charge to Columbiana area residents, in appreciation of their interest and support during the past 26 years.

The next meeting of foundation trustees is Jan. 29, 2013.

In order to be considered by the Screening Committee, prior to being taken for vote at that meeting, applications for grants must be received on or before Dec. 1.
