SALEM REPORTS

-Joseph M. Petro, of 8523 Duck Creek Road, Berlin Center, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, marked lanes and a red light violation after a traffic stop at 2:32 a.m. Sunday in the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Fourth Street.

- A woman in the 200 block of West Wilson Street called at 1:45 a.m. Sunday to request assistance from medical personnel at her residence. Fire department first responders and police responded.

- A domestic was reported at 11:09 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue where two people were involved in a verbal dispute that led to an altercation. Neither side wanted to pursue the matter and the male half left.

- Loud persons were reported at 9:02 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Fair Avenue where juveniles were running in the street being loud. A resident said she would take care of the problem.

- An officer on patrol at 8:36 p.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of East State Street found a license plate on the ground near the base of a utility pole. The plate was recovered and taken to the police station.

- A suspicious vehicle was reported at 8:21 p.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of East State Street where people were found to be doing a scavenger hunt.

- Police received a report at 8:15 p.m. Saturday of a possible intoxicated person in a silver PT Cruiser in a parking lot in the 2800 block of East State Street, but the vehicle could not be located.

- Stephen Vishak, of 42842 state Route 518, Lisbon, was taken into custody for an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office after police responded to the 200 block of South Lundy Avenue at 7:46 p.m. Saturday to check for a person with a warrant. A deputy picked him up for transport to the county jail.

- A woman from the 1100 block of Prospect Street came to the police station at 7:33 p.m. Saturday to report an ongoing problem with a known person bothering her children within the city limits.

- An anonymous caller at 4:09 p.m. Saturday reported an intoxicated person in the area of South Lundy Avenue and Franklin Street. The male was located at the rear of his residence in the 400 block of Aetna Street. He was found to be slightly intoxicated and told the consequences if he leaves his residence.

- Police were called at 3:03 p.m. Saturday to the 100 block of West Pershing Street for a man down in the gravel lot. Officers could see the man laying on the ground and when they arrived, he said he had not fallen. He was sitting in a chair talking on the phone and was intoxicated, but said he was going to move since this was the second time in two days that the cops were there. He said he was fine.

- A woman in the 400 block of Aetna Street reported at 2:09 p.m. Saturday that someone dragged her vehicle from behind the residence out onto Aetna Street and proceeded towards South Broadway Avenue, then the marks stopped. She was attempting to make contact with the leasing company who she purchased the vehicle from to make sure they did not take it.

- Police were called at 1:18 p.m. Saturday to the 500 block of Walnut Street for an alleged burglary in progress and found the owner of the residence used an object to break out the glass in the rear door to gain entry since he did not have his key. Officers learned from his wife that he was having medical issues and needed to go to the hospital. He agreed to go on his own and was transported to Salem Community Hospital by EMT Ambulance.

- A woman in the 900 block of Fair Avenue reported at 10:12 a.m. Saturday that sometime after 10:30 p.m. Friday, she heard a noise by the side of her residence and the outside light came on but she didn't see anyone. On Saturday morning, she found a wooden coffee table and what appeared to be a hair dryer in her yard. The items were placed in front of the residence and a note was left for the street department to pick them up.

- A wallet was found in the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 12:11 p.m. Saturday and taken to the police station.

- A woman in the 100 block of East Fourth Street reported at 10:28 a.m. Saturday that an older-looking black Sunfire was parked across the street from her residence for 25 minutes and the male operator, who was wearing an orange shirt, got out and stared at her residence. The vehicle then left and has gone by her residence three times since then. An officer stayed in the area and checked for awhile but did not see the vehicle.

- An officer on patrol at 1:34 a.m. Sunday saw a vehicle pull into the parking lot of a closed business in the 1800 block of state Route 9 and made contact, learning a male and female were arguing. The man behind the wheel, Ryean Sutton, 28, of Hanoverton, was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and was charged with having physical control of a motor vehicle.

- A woman on state Route 344 reported at 10:54 a.m. Saturday that her soon-to-be ex-spouse keeps sending harassing text and voice messages. An officer spoke to the person and they said they would stop.

- Police were called at 2:19 a.m. Saturday to the 1300 block of Andrew Avenue for the third time for a barking dog. The first two times, no barking dog was found. The third time, an officer found the animal and attempted to contact the owner to no avail.

- William C. Batton, 27, of 1013 Jones Drive, Salem, was charged with criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct and aggravated menacing after police were called at 5:42 p.m. Friday to a propertyin the 900 block of Jones Drive where he was allegedly threatening to harm a resident and refusing to leave. The report said he finally left after one of his family members escorted him to his residence. While police were attempting to investigate the incident, he became agitated and was placed under arrest for criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct. The additional charge was added after he made threats against the arresting officer.

- Police were called at 12:08 p.m. Friday to the 1100 block of Hampton Place for an unruly juvenile, spoke to the parent and advised them of their options.

- Police were called at 9:04 p.m. Thursday to talk to a man about a person harassing him over text messages on the telephone.

- Ashley Brooks, 22, of 1136 E. 10th St., was cited for non-compliance suspension after a traffic stop at 11:10 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Georgetown Road.
