Donna Mae Carpenter

SCIO -Donna Mae Carpenter, 82, of Scio, died Tuesday at her residence.

Born May 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John William and Bertha Velma (Baughman) Anderson Hickman.

Mrs. Carpenter owned several restaurants, the Sunny Slope restaurant, the Sunset Valley and Cindy's Diner in Carrollton. She was a member of the Church of Christ Christian Disciples of Carrollton.

Survivors include three sons, Paul Rodney (Angela) Shafer and John Wesley Shafer and his companion Lorrine Moore of Scio and Phil (Kay) Shafer of Carrollton; three daughters, Cindy (John) Solvey of Bergholz, Velma Sue Lambert of New Rumley and Charlotte Wells of Earnest, Pa.; a brother, Gerald "Jerry" Anderson of Salem; two sisters, Joyce (Ray) Carnes of Hanoverton and Doris Saunders of Salem; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky William Shafer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Hospice,7568 Whipple Ave. N.W., North Canton, Ohio 44720.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Mike Doak officiating.

Arrangements were handled by the Maple-Cotton Funeral Home.
