EAST LIVERPOOL - The Potters brought home the hardware.

The East Liverpool golf team advanced all the way to the Ohio Division II State Golf Tournament held Oct. 12-13 on Ohio State University's Scarlet Golf Course in Columbus.

The Potters placed sixth with a score of 685.

Individually for East Liverpool, Blake Prince produced a 166, Alex Watson shot 171, Isaac Davidson delivered a 176, Joey Cilone contributed a 179 and Ryian Burson netted a 180.

As a result of the Potters strong showing this season, the East Liverpool golf team was well represented on the 2012 Eastern District Golf Coaches Association Division II All-Star Teams.

All six of the Potters' varsity players were named to one of the teams, and East Liverpool also was honored by sharing the top two awards handed out at the coaches meeting.

Prince and St. Clairsville's Zach Keylor were named Eastern District Co-Players of the Year.

"It shows his consistency throughout the whole year," East Liverpool head coach Ben Wright said about Prince's award. "It shows all of the coaches we played against all year saw he was one of the top competitors around the state."

Wright also took home an award as he and St. Clairsville head coach Rick Oberdick were named Eastern District Co-Coaches of the Year.

"Winning the coach of the year award, I have to give credit to all of the kids I had this year," Wright said. "Obviously, we had a successful season, and a lot of awards come with that and it comes with the amount of time and effort - like the kids I had - put in this year."

Prince, Davidson and Cilone were named First Team All-Eastern District.

Watson was named Second Team All-Eastern District.

Finally, Ryian Burson and Matt Hilditch were both named Honorable Mention All-Eastern District.

"I believe we were the only team to have every player honored," Wright said. "I know it is the first time it has happened since I have been the coach. It shows a lot of consistency on their part. It shows how much hard work they put in and how good they really are. On teams around the state, my No. 5, No. 6 and No. 7 guys would be their No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 players."

Watson is the lone senior of the group.

"The kids are definitely excited about next year," Wright said. "We lose Alex. That is a huge loss, but we have got five guys coming back from the varsity team. We are looking to make another good run next year."

Prince, Cilone, Burson and Hilditch are all juniors. Davidson is a freshman.

"This was probably the most rewarding year I have had in sports," Wright said. "This group of kids took me all the way to the Scarlet Course and the state tournament. I am glad we were rewarded at the Eastern District meeting.

Also, Edison's Adam Ryan and Jimmy Marsh were both named Honorable Mention All-Eastern District.

On the girls' side, Edison's Kaylea Bell was named Academic All-Ohio in Division II.
