SALEM - Crafters, artists and bakers will pack the Memorial Building gym to sell their wares for the holiday during the 23rd Annual Holiday Arts & Crafts Bazaar this Friday and Saturday.
Doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, with no admission cost, allowing area residents to stroll along the tables looking for gifts or special treats, take a chance on an item in the Chinese auction or purchase lunch.

The Salem Memorial Building Association hosts three bazaars per year to raise funds for activities, with Faber describing the Holiday bazaar as the association's biggest fundraiser. He said they've sold out the tables. Memorial Building employee Amber Goodman said they're expecting 52 vendors.
Some of the items to be featured will include scented candles, handmade jewelry, baked goods, hearing aids and devices, purses and wallets, hand-painted glass, candy, doilies and makeup and lotions."There will be a variety of arts and crafts," Faber said.
Each vendor will be asked to donate one item for the Chinese auction, with the drawing for the items to be held at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Memorial Building will host a lunch counter from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, serving homemade soups, sandwiches and desserts, including sloppy joes, coney dogs, hot dogs, vegetable soup, pies and beverages.
Faber explained that all proceeds from the table rentals, lunch counter and auction will be used for Memorial Building activities and services for all ages year round.
Besides providing the facilities for the annual free Thanksgiving dinner, the Memorial Building serves as the site for the Banquet in Salem every Monday night and one Thursday a month, offers free classes for GED for the high school equivalency exam and ABLE for adults to brush up on their skills. Sporting opportunities are available for basketball and volleyball and the building serves as the children's venue for New Year's Eve Salem.
The Columbiana County Office on Aging has its offices at the Memorial Building and operates an adult day care program, paying for its own utilities. Salem Senior Citizens also meet at the facility and the building serves as headquarters for the Salem Parks & Recreation Department.
