Southern Local 52, Heartland Christian 10

SALINEVILLE - The Indians had little trouble with Heartland Christian on Wednesday, cruising to a 52-10 victory at home.

The win moves Southern Local above .500 at 7-6 on the season. The Indians have won three straight games.

On Wednesday, the Indians jumped out to an 18-0 lead after one quarter of play. Southern Local held a 28-point advantage at the break and had a 43-point lead heading into the final quarter.

Kati Hipsley paced the Indians with a game-high 15 points and added 11 steals and eight assists.

Rachel Coil finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Brittany Weber added 10 points.

In junior varsity action, Sandy Valley defeated Southern, 37-21. Abbey Smalley led the Indians with five points.

Southern will be back in action today at home against Wellsville.

West Branch 60, East Liverpool 28

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Potters didn't have an answer to the Warriors attack.

East Liverpool dropped a 60-28 contest on Wednesday at Potter Fieldhouse against perennial power West Branch.

The loss drops the Potters to 6-9 on the season.

East Liverpool trailed West Branch, 13-7, after one quarter of play and went into halftime facing a 13-point deficit.

Nikayla Edgell was the lone Potter to reach double figures with 16 points.

For West Branch, Melinda Trimmer led with 20 points, followed by Pavin Heath with 16.

In reserve play, West Branch won, 54-21. Caitlyn Davis led the Potters in scoring.

East Liverpool will host Wellsville on Saturday.
