SALEM - Donnell Ford Lincoln of Salem recently participated in the "Go Further with Ford Night" program, which provided dealership visitors an opportunity to enter a contest to win a 2013 Ford Fusion and benefit cancer screening programs offered at Salem Community Hospital (SCH).
In addition to being entered in the national contest to win a Ford Fusion, each customer participating in the event generated a contribution from Ford Motor Company to the Charitable Foundation of SCH. Tom Poponak, the dealership's general manager, provided a matching gift to double the donation.
"We are committed to keeping our local dollars in our community" Poponak said. "While Ford suggested many worthwhile national charities as recipients of the money, we felt it was important to keep this donation in our area."

Accepting the gift on behalf of SCH, LuAnn Haddad, the Hospital's Vice President of Institutional Advancement, said that the donation will be used to support Hospital programs that identify and treat cancer.
"Many people in our community have been touched by cancer. This donation will enhance our efforts to identify cancer early, when it is most treatable, through our lung and mammography screening programs," she said. "We appreciate the dedication and generosity of Donnell Ford Lincoln in keeping this money local and providing a 100 percent matching donation."
