COLUMBUS - West Branch's future looks bright with sophomores Melinda Trimmer and Pavin Heath leading the way.
Trimmer received special mention and Heath claimed honorable mention on the 2012-13 Associated Press Division II All-Ohio girls basketball team released Monday.
They led the Warriors to a 23-3 season, a share of their first Northeastern Buckeye Conference title since 2005, a 12th-place state ranking and a third straight district title appearance.
Trimmer -the Northeastern Buckeye Conference player of the year - topped the Warriors in scoring (16.4) and assists (7.3) for a second straight season. She also shot 77 percent from the foul line.
Heath led West Branch in field goal percentage (52.7) and three-point percentage (48.8), while averaging 12.3 points and 5.9 rebounds a game.
Canfield senior Sabrina Mangapora repeats as a first-team selection. The 6-foot-1 Mangapora, a first-team All-Ohioan in basketball and volleyball, is headed to Ball State University on a volleyball scholarship.
She sparked the Cardinals to a 26-2 season and a second straight district championship. The Cardinals ran off 24 straight victories after an early-season loss to West Branch.
Mangapora averaged a team-high 18.5 points and 9.6 rebounds a game, while shooting 48 percent from the field and 77 percent from the foul line.
Also in Division II, Carrollton junior Taylor Lowdermilk received special mention.
Lowdermilk guided Carrollton to a 19-6 record, including wins over West Branch, United and Beaver Local. She averaged 11.3 points and 2.7 steals a game.
