financial report completed

LEETONIA- The annual financial report of Leetonia Community Public Library 2012 has been completed.

The report is available for inspection at the office of the fiscal officer at 181 Walnut St.

United Athletic Booster

Club will meet Monday

HANOVERTON - The United Athletic Booster Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the high school library.

Columbiana Library hosting

storytellers, Chip Richter

COLUMBIANA - The public is invited to hear a favorite story and sing songs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Columbiana Public Library.

Special readers from the community, including teachers and educators from Columbiana, Crestview and Heartland Christian, will read their favorite stories. Chip Richter will also perform. No registration is necessary.

County Genealogic Society

will meet at Shaffer Library

SALEM - The Columbiana County Genealogic Society is slated to meet at 7 p.m. April 10 at the Dale Shaffer Library meeting room of the Salem Historical Society.

Bill Ward will give a presentation of the history of the Salem Country Club with the changes and improvements at the lake over the last 100 years.

Non members and guests are welcome.

Crestview Board of Education

will meet Wednesday

COLUMBIANA - The Crestview Local Board of Education will meet at 6:30 p.m. April 10 in the Performing Arts Center, 44100 Crestview Road.

Southern Local schedules

kindergarten registration

SALINEVILLE - Southern Local School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2013-14 school year from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 10 and 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 11.

The prospective student must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 30. Parents must have the child's birth certificate, up-to-date immunization record (five DPT, four polio, three Hepatitis B and two Varicella), social security card, custody documents (if applicable), and proof of residency. The child does not need to be present for registration.

Testing/screening will be held in August and parents will be notified of the date and time. To make an appointment call 330-679-2301 Ext. 250 or 251.

Catholic Daughters of Americas

will meet on April 11

SALEM - Catholic Daughters of the Americas will meet at 11 a.m. April 11 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Farm to School workshop will

be held at MetroParks Farm

CANFIELD - Healthy young people, healthy economies and healthy communities will be the focus of a Farm to School workshop in Canfield.

Bridging the Gap From Farm to School: Connecting Schools to Local Fruit, Produce and Food will be held April 18 at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm.

Presentations will focus on opportunities to bring fresh local foods to local schools and highlight the partnerships already happening in the Mahoning Valley.

Detailed information will be reviewed, including the Farm Fresh Salad Bar offered as part of the National School Lunch Program; how to feature local food items in the cafeteria; utilizing local food items for fundraisers or special events; using local food items in hot lunch offering or integrating Fresh Fruit and Vegetable and School Meals program; and more. Farm to School is a national program, which in Ohio is led by OSU Extension and is supported by numerous agencies, foundations and industry organizations.

Spring card party planned at

St. Ann Parish Hall on April 21

SEBRING - Men, women and teens are invited to the spring card party from 1 to 4 p.m. April 21 at St. Ann Parish Hall, 323 S. 15th St. Doors open at noon.

The event offers food, door prizes and raffles. Admission is $5 per person. Reservations may be made by calling 330-938-6839.

Pancake breakfast scheduled

April 27 at Salem Saxon Club

SALEM - The public is invited to a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. April 27 at the Salem Saxon Club.

A spaghetti dinner follows from 5 to 8 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Salem High School Class of 1978 and also features a "super raffle/silent auction."

Public breakfast buffet will be

served at Masonic Building

SALEM-A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. April 27 at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St.

Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2.

The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea.

The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.

Kindergarten registration set

at West Branch Middle School

BELOIT - Kindergarten registration for the 2013-14 school year is slated May 1 and 2 by appointment only at the West Branch Middle School.

Any child who is 5 years of age on or before Sept. 30, 2013, and resides within the West Branch School District is eligible to be registered.

To schedule an appointment call the superintendent's office at 330-938-9324.

Non-residents planning to apply for open enrollment must also make an appointment. Open enrollment applications will be available beginning April 15 and will also be available at registration.

To be eligible for open enrollment the child must be 5 years of age by the date set by your district of residence. Contact the superintendent's office in your resident district to confirm that date.

The following items will be required at registration: birth certificate, immunization records, Social Security card, custody/court papers (if applicable) and proof of residency (utility bill, purchase/lease agreement, driver's license).

The office will copy a form of ID of the person who is registering their child. Only the custodial parent/guardian can register a child for kindergarten. Registration is not complete until all required forms are provided.

Butler Township trustees

announce clean-up days

BUTLER TOWNSHIP - The Butler Township trustees have announced that clean-up days for the residents of Butler Township are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 2 and 3 and 8 a.m. to noon May 4 at the township garage on Slater Road.

Assistance will be available for heavy items.

Items not accepted will be paint, paint cans, organic materials, or fuel tanks.

Batteries and passenger and light truck tires will be accepted. Tires must be rimless and free of debris.

American Red Cross plans

annual geranium sale

SALEM - The American Red Cross, serving Columbiana County, is announcing its annual geranium sale. The sale which runs now through April 22, features 4-inch hardy seedling geraniums in red or white.

Orders will be available by May 8, just in time for Mothers Day.

Local clubs or organizations seeking for a community service project or fundraiser are welcome to participate in the geranium sale. Area schools and organizations currently selling geraniums include: LaCroft Elementary, St. Aloysious Elementary, Garfield Elementary in Wellsville, Wellsville High School, Southern Local High School, and United Way.

Registration for Crestview

kindergarteners is June 4

COLUMBIANA - Registration and screening for kindergarten students for the 2013-14 school year will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 4 at Crestview Elementary School, 3407 Middleton Road.

The child's birth certificate, Social Security number, immunization record, proof of residency, (example utility bill etc.) and custody documentation if applicable should accompany the child.

To be eligible for kindergarten the child must be 5 years old by Sept. 30, 2013. State law requires a kindergarten experience prior to attending first grade.
