April 7, 2013
Salem News

Columbiana Women's Club is celebrating its 45th year. The clubhouse at 121 N. Main St. was bequeathed to the women of the village in 1968 by Helen Buzzard. As a meeting place for clubs and women's activities and interests, it has offered the community rentals of its Victorian rooms at reasonable rates for many years. This service has been enhanced this year with the addition of a hostess, use of china and linens, and aid of vendors for catering and decor. To schedule family and social events at the club call 330-482-2832. Membership is open to unaffiliated members. Dues are $15 yearly and offer members many uses of the clubhouse as well as reduced prices for events. New events include a Herb and Gardening Symposium and an enhanced series of Lunch and Learn programs. The symposium on April 20 at Grace Church includes a continental breakfast, lunch and five presentations including community gardening, fairy gardens, medicinal herbs, and Victorian herbs, butters and sugars. Tickets are $30 by calling 330-482-5029. The Lunch and Learn Series, held on the third Monday at 12:15 p.m., includes programs on fashion, cooking, decorating, film history and the history of McGuffey Readers. Tickets are $5 for members and $7 for guests. For reservations call 330-207-1470.
