Salem 1939 lunch planned

SALEM - Salem High School Class of 1939 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

United 1960 breakfast scheduled

HANOVERTON - United High School Class of 1960 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Food distribution planned

SALEM - The Second Harvest Food Bank will distribute food items from 10 a.m. to noon April 12 at the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church on West Middletown Road. Those attending are reminded to bring their driver's license.

Haystack breakfast offered

SALEM - The public is invited to a haystack breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Eagles Club. Cost is $5. A dance follows from 9 p.m. to midnight. Music will be provided by Damaged Goods. The kitchen will be open from 8 to 10 p.m.

Columbiana 1961 lunch planned

COLUMBIANA - Columbiana High School Class of 1961 will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Saturday at Paul's (Antone's) Cafe.

Breakfast planned at Smith Grange

BELOIT - A country -style breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Smith Grange. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children. Carryouts are available.

Columbiana Historical meeting set

COLUMBIANA - The Historical Society of Columbiana- Fairfield Township will meet at 7 p.m. April l5 at the First Presbyterian Church. Richard Scarsella will present "Memories and Melancholy" Reflections of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley." Visitors are welcome. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the historical society. New displays at the Log House Museum which the society oversees, a new history book, a big drive for new members and a celebration party in October are some of the activities planned.

Casino bus trip still open

SALEM - The Cutting Edge Styling Salon still has openings for its April 15 bus trip to the Meadows Casino in Washington, Pa. Proceeds are directed to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. LISBON - Columbiana County Career and Technical Center ABLE will conduct orientations for the last available GED classes this school year. Orientations will take place the week of April 22. Speaker set for Leadership program

SALEM - Leadership Columbiana County will feature motivational speaker Brian Blasko at this year's graduation dinner on May 8 at the Salem Golf Club. Local business professionals are invited to the event that begins at 5 p.m. The evening will include a buffet dinner, LCC program and graduation, and the presentation from Blasko who is a nationally known speaker, trainer, and author. Frank Sinatra tribute planned

Pizza Challenger winners listed

LEETONIA - Leetonia Ruritans has recognized the following participants of the Pizza Challenge this year. The participants were Pizza Hut and Pizza Joe's of Columbiana, East of Chicago, Giant Eagle and Alfredo's of Salem, Iron Rails of Leetonia, G's of Washingtonville, and Mary's of Lisbon. The People's Choice Awards went to Mary's for Best Pepperoni and Best Cheese and G's for Best Specialty.

Utilities meeting canceled

SALEM - A meeting of the Utilities Committee of Salem City Council set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday has been canceled.

Benefit auction planned in EP

EAST PALESTINE - Caring Hands Food Ministry will hold a benefit auction at 6 p.m. Friday, April 19 at Dull's Auction Barn, state Route 14. Doors will open at 5 and food will be available for purchase. New and used merchandise, gift certificates and gift baskets will be auctioned with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the ministry. Anyone with donations may drop them off at the auction barn from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 18. No clothing will be accepted. Each month, Caring Hands provides food and essentials to over 600 people from Columbiana County and surrounding communities.

HANOVERTON - Winter flowers and decorations must be removed from Grove Hill Cemetery before April 15 or they will be discarded.
