Salem 1951 to meet for breakfast

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1951 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. May 1 at the Skyline Diner.

Beaver Local building committee to meet

LISBON - The Beaver Local Board of Education Building and Grounds Committee meeting begins at 7 p.m. May 1 in room two at the high school.

DAHS 1946-47 plan lunch May 2

LISBON - The David Anderson High School classes of 1946 and 1947 are invited to lunch at 11:30 a.m. May 2 at the Taste of Country.

Minerva Village Wide Garage Sales set

MINERVA - The ninth annual Minerva Village Wide Garage Sales will be held from 9 to 5 p.m. May 2, 3 and 4. Maps to the sales may be picked up at Minerva Village Hall, 209 N. SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1972 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. May 4 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Fairfield 1959 dinner scheduled

COLUMBIANA - The Fairfield-Waterford Class of 1959 will meet for dinner at 5:30 p.m. May 6 at Das Dutch Haus in Columbiana.

Getting Crafty craft set at Salem Library

SALEM - The Getting Crafty craft at 6:30 p.m. May 13 features Busy Bee Garden Pokes in the Salem Public Library's Quaker Room. All materials will be provided free of cost for this class for adults ages 18 and older.

GED testing scheduled in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN - Official GED testing will be held at 8:45 a.m. and at 3:45 p.m. May 14 and 15 at Choffin Career and Technical Center. All participants must be pre-registered and bring a photo ID. To pre-register for the test or to enroll in free classes call 330-744-8715.

Open house set at Montessori Preschool

LISBON - Lisbon Montessori Preschool will have an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. May 16 at 223 E. Washington St. Anyone interested in enrolling their child for the 2013-14 school year is encouraged to attend. A pair of OSU Buckeye tickets, for Sept. 7, donated by State Rep. United FFA team competes in Wooster

HANOVERTON - United Future Farmers of America members, J.R. Himes, Cole Courtney, Brandon Grubb and Zak Tomlinson, competed at the State Dairy Judging Contest at ATI Wooster. The team placed ninth out of 52 teams in the contest. All four freshmen judged and placed five classes of dairy cattle. Himes also placed third individually out of 245 judges.

Founder's Day Dinner sold out

SALEM-The Salem Historical Society's 43rd Founders' Day dinner scheduled for April 30 at the Salem Community Center has been sold out. Stand-by reservations are being taken by calling 330-337-8514 and leaving a message. Should seats become available, you will be contacted.

A popular event of the annual activities is the Chinese auction. Other events for the evening include recognition of the 2013 Citizens of Honor, Edwin Smith and R. S. McCulloch Sr., and a commemoration the 150th anniversary of John Hunt Morgan's Raid as presented by Attorney Tim Brookes of East Liverpool.

Jigsaw exchange set at Salem Library

SALEM - Salem Public Library's jigsaw puzzle exchange will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 in the library's Quaker Room at 821 E. State St.

In preparation for the exchange, adult and children's puzzles will be accepted at the adult services desk during regular business hours May 4-17. Participants will receive one ticket for each puzzle brought in. Bring only puzzles with all pieces and in good condition. For more information call 330-332-0042.
