Youth summer employment applications accepted today

LISBON - Applications for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Summer Youth Employment Program will be accepted from 1 to 6 p.m. today, Wednesday and Thursday at the Columbiana County Department of Job and Family Services, 7989 Dickey Drive, Suite 2. Hanoverton School reunion reservation deadline is Friday

HANOVERTON - Friday is the deadline for reservations for the Hanoverton School reunion. Because the Hanoverton School has been sold, the Swiss steak supper will be served on May 18 at the New Garden Methodist Church on Route 9, Newgarden. The meal will be provided by Doyle's Fresh Meat and Deli Catering.

Registration will be taken from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Dinner is $10 and dues are $3. Entertainment will be provided by the United Fourth Grade Choristers.

MINERVA - The Tri-County Opry begins at 7:30 p.m. May 18 at the Roxy Theater. Featured vocalists are The Babbs, southern gospel and country recording artists from Bellevue. Art Walk planned for Mill Creek concert series

YOUNGSTOWN - Mill Creek MetroParks is incorporating an Art Walk to the already well attended and successful summer concert series, Live! at the Morley (formerly known as Summerfest Spectacular). Located at the Judge Leo P. Morley Pavilion at the Wick Recreation Area, Live! at the morley will run from June 12 through Aug. 28, Wednesday nights from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and is free to attend.

Music Fest kicks off at Copeland Oaks May 21

SEBRING - The Music Fest kicks off May 21 and continues through June, July and August at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community. The public is invited to all concerts, free of charge.

The May 21 opening performance features the Canfield Community Band, followed by the Copeland Oaks Choral on May 24. Both performances begin at 7 p.m. in Murphy Auditorium.

The Dunnemans, a Gospel music group, will visit June 6. The popular Youngstown Community Band will present the program on June 13. Both events are scheduled for 7 p.m. in Murphy Auditorium.

The nostalgic big band sound will be provided by the Garrettones Orchestra appearing at 7 p.m. June 24 in Murphy Auditorium. Rounding out the June schedule is a special program by the Cardinal Chorale. The best of the Ohio Youth Choir are invited to tour with the Cardinal Chorale and will sing at 12:30 p.m. June 27 in Murphy Auditorium.

The Nice Jazz Trio will perform at 7 p.m. July 8 in Bennett Auditorium . The Deerfield Community Choir will take the Murphy stage at 7 p.m. July 9.

Roz and Lynn will take you back to the USO days of World War II with a variety of patriotic songs and skits at 7 p.m. July 11 in Murphy Auditorium.

The Copeland Gazebo on the shores of Lake Copeland is the site for the concert by the Salem Quaker City Band at 7 p.m. Aug. 8. Rounding out the summer fest will be the Front Page Barbershop Quartet whose all-female members will perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 in Bennett Auditorium.

Blood drive planned Thursday at Alliance Hospital

ALLIANCE - An American Red Cross blood drive is slated from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in conference room 1-A at Alliance Community Hospital, 200 E. State St.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent), weigh no less than 110 pounds and be able to provide a photo ID or their Red Cross donor card. Donors are encouraged to drink additional fluids at least 24 hours prior to the drive.
