Herschel E. Watkins Jr.

ALIQUIPPA, Pa. - Herschel E. Watkins Jr., 79, of Saturn Drive, died at 10:57 a.m. Wednesday at Heritage Valley Beaver, where he had been a patient for the past several days.

He was born June 7, 1933 in Fairmont, W.Va., a son of the late Herschel and Ruth Wells Watkins Sr., and had resided in Aliquippa for the past year, coming from Brighton Twp.and East Palestine. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a supervisor with J & L in Aliquippa. He was veteran of both the U.S. Army and Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, the former Glenna Stephens, whom he married June 22, 1991. He also leaves six daughters, Susan (Anthony) Cuccaro of Coraopolis, Pa., Glenna Armstrong of Hopewell, Pa., Janice Felger Monaca, Pa., Lorilee Carter of New Brighton, Pa., Penny Halstead of Hopewell, Pa., and Tiffany Felger of Leetonia; and a son Matthew Efaw of Center Twp. He also leaves a sister, Shirley Betchce of Pittsburgh; 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; and a good friend, Daryl Felger.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home in East Palestine with James Lalama officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the time of service. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
