Kristen Leigh Rhodes became the summer bride of Shawn David Tooley on June 16, 2012. The double-ring ceremony was held in the outdoor pavilion at Gervasi Vineyard overlooking Lake Gervasi in Canton. Esquire Gregory Sizemore of Cincinnati officiated.
A dinner reception and dancing followed, which also hallmarked the 61st wedding anniversary of the bride's paternal grandparents, Jim and Jean Rhodes of Winona.
The bride is the daughter of Debbie Kelly Rhodes of Salem and Earl Rhodes of North Canton. She is also the granddaughter of Jim and Nancy Kelly of Salem.
The bridegroom is the son of Carol Koehler and David and Vickie Tooley of Sycamore. He is also the grandson of Diane Tooley and the late Wade Tooley and the late Kenneth and Grace Koehler.
The bride was escorted by her father and given away in marriage by her parents. Her gown of pearl satin featured an ivory lace overlay adorned with hand-beaded accents, made by Sophia Tolli. The lace draped across the bodice and skirt accentuated the asymmetrical dropped waistline and corset back, while the neckline featured a modified sweetheart with satin piping. The bride carried a bouquet of lilies atop an heirloom Bible and wore her mother's veil.
The bride's maid of honor was Jackie Atkin
Bridesmaids were Kathleen Vermeersch, Jo Elle Hall, Ashley Hannay and Hannah Griffith. The flower girl was Kelly Hutton. The bridal attendants also included Emma Griffith, Katie Kelly, Julia Kelly, Josie Johns Granata, Rylee Hutton and Rachael Kelly. The bridal attendants wore red chiffon tea-length dresses with a ruffle halter, made by Mori Lee.
Groomsmen were Andrew Kelbley, Erik Reamer, Jacob Stevens, Josh Schwochow and Jaron Swerline. The ring bearer was Brock Kelbley. The bride's brother, Jorden Rhodes, ushered in the bride's mother and grandparents.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Salem High School, as well as a 2009 graduate of The Ohio State University and a 2012 graduate of Tiffin University. She is currently employed as an academic advisor by The Ohio State University, Lima campus.
The bridegroom is a 2005 graduate of Mohawk High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Cincinnati. He is employed by Hemm's Glass Shops Inc. in Piqua.
The couple honeymooned on the South Coast of Jamaica and currently reside in Anna.
