Salem 1958 to meet for breakfast

SALEM The Salem High School Class of 1958 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. today at Adele's Place. The class is sponsoring the teen group at the ROC today.

'Wonderful Life' auditions scheduled

COLUMBIANA - Crown Theater Productions will hold auditions for "It's a Wonderful Life" from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 16 and 17 in the Encore Room at Main Street Theater, 5 N. Main St. Show performances are Dec. 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15.

Leetonia 1962 breakfast scheduled

LEETONIA - The Leetonia High School Class of 1962 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Sept. 20 at the Skyline Diner in Salem.

Breakfast buffet offered at Saxon Club

SALEM - An all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will be served from 7 to 10 a.m. Sept. 21 at the Salem Saxon Club, 1980 Newgarden Road. Cost is $6 and free for under 5. Carryouts are available by calling 330-332-1770.

Church Women United to meet

SALEM Church Women United will meet at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 23 in the Education Building at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church parlor. Fellowship begins at 1 p.m. This month's guest speaker is Jan Powers of Circle of Care. Women from St. Paul Catholic Church will serve as hostesses.

Folk music topic at Columbiana Library

COLUMBIANA - Hank Arbaugh of the Ohio Humanities Council will present "Appalachian Folk Music" from 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Columbiana Public Library, 332 N. Middle St. Registration is required in person at the library or by calling 330-482-5509.

Salem 1954 breakfast planned

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1954 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Sept. 26 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Fundraiser to aid Allyson Perry set

SALEM - Aarrow Disposal and the Salem Italian American Club is hosting a fundraiser for Aarrow owner, Allyson Perry, on Sept. 28 at the club, 250 Penn Ave. Proceeds will help with her medical bills. Perry was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. She is undergoing chemotherapy for treatment and plans to have surgery this month.

Pasta dinners will be served from 2 to 6 p.m. Cost is $7. The band, "Tribute," will play for approximately three hours beginning at 6 p.m.

The event also includes a variety of raffles and auctions. Aarrow Disposal customers wishing to donate items for the auction may call 330-332-1176.

United FFA to sponsor petting zoo

HANOVERTON - United Local Future Farmers of America is sponsoring a petting zoo from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at Robert Bycroft's workshop (EDI Central and Beaver Creek Candle).

Pumpkin weigh-off set at Parks Oct. 12

CANFIELD - The Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers will hold its 19th annual giant pumpkin weigh-off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at Parks Garden Center, 9010 U. S. Route 62. Prize money will exceed $25,000 for the heaviest categories of giant pumpkin, watermelon, tomato and Halloween type pumpkin. Also included are widest sunflower head and longest gourd. Heaviest giant pumpkin will be awarded the $5,000 first place.

Growers wishing to enter any of the categories must have their entry at the garden center by 9 a.m. Oct. 12. Exhibits will remain on display until 4 p.m. Admission is free and a lunch stand will be available. It is suggested to bring lawn chairs.

Pipeline/drilling meeting planned

COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a free community informational meeting on gas and oil/pipeline development at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Crestview Performing Arts Center, 44100 Crestview Road.

Speakers include Jason Wilson, Governor's Office of Appalachia director; Tim Ross, Governor's Office Eastern Ohio Regional liaison; Tim Weigle, Columbiana County commissioner; Barry Miner, Fairfield Township trustee; and a Bluegrass Pipeline and Hilcorp Energy representative.

McKinley PTO seeks helpers for Santa

LISBON - McKinley Elementary School PTO is seeking vendors for its Santa's Secret Workshop to be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 3 and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 4. The workshop will close for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. each day and 5 to 6 p.m. Dec. 3. Cost of a table is $30. All items for sale during school hours must be $5 and under. Vendors are welcome to place higher priced items during evening hours on Tuesday. The table reservation deadline is Nov. 1 at or 330-424-9869.

West Branch yearbooks ready for pickup

BELOIT - The West Branch High School 2012-13 yearbooks have arrived and may be picked up between 7:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for students/graduates who have pre-purchased a yearbook.
