First Friends hosting 'fly-by' dinner
SALEM - The public is invited to the "fly-by" carryout dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the First Friends Church, 1028 Jennings Ave.
The menu offers glazed ham loaf, cheesy potatoes, seasoned green beans, roll and homemade cake. Cost is $8 per meal. Reservations may be made in advance by calling the church office at 330-332-0001.
Salem Eagles hosting public fish dinner
SALEM - The public is invited to a fish dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Salem Eagles Club, 1884 N. Ellsworth Ave. Cost is $8.50. Chicken tenders are also available.
A dance is scheduled from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the club. Music will be provided by Uptown Saturday Night.
Winona FD hosting fundraiser dinner
WINONA - The Winona Fire Department is hosting a Swiss steak dinner fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Winona Friends Church.
Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Carryouts are available.
VFW Post 892 hosting public breakfast
SALEM - Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892 Mens Auxiliary is hosting a public breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the post, 496 Arch St.
Haystacks, or a traditional breakfast of eggs, pancakes, hash browns, sausage patties, toast, orange juice and coffee are available. Cost is $5 per meal.
St. John's Church serving turkey dinner
SUMMITVILLE - St. John's Church on Smith Road will serve its annual turkey dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Carryouts are available for $10.50.
The Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association will be on site to administer flu shots from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Salem AMVETS Post 45 hosting dance
SALEM A Halloween dance will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Oct. 26 at Salem AMVETS Post 45, 750 S. Broadway Ave.
Music will be provided by Damaged Goods. Attendees who dress-up in costume will be eligible for cash prizes.

GREEN TOWNSHIP - Green Township's annual costume judging begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Greenford Bobcat Space Center.
The parade follows to the Green Township Fire Station where refreshments will be served.

Cross Roads Council sponsoring auction
GUILFORD LAKE - The Cross Roads Council of the Knights of Columbus is sponsoring an auction at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Ruritan building on state Route 172 at Hanna Drive. The proceeds of the auction will benefit the church youth programs.
Auctioneer Dave Stout will offer a variety of toys, collectibles, tools, etc.

Kraut Fest scheduled at Haus Orchard
CANFIELD - The 14th annual Kraut Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 2 and 3 at Haus Orchard and Cider Mill, 6742 W. Calla Road. Admission is $4 per person, $7 per couple, and free for children.
Activities include a "shoot, chuck and chug" contest, cabbage cooking contest, shred-a-head contest, cabbage patch kid contest, KCB Express, pumpkin rides and cabbage bowl. Music will be provided by Del Sinchak and John Gabriel.

SALEM - A German/Saxon sausage sale will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Saxon Club on state Route 9.
Rope sausage is available in 3 or 5-pound portions in plain, garlic or hot sausage. Cost is $3 per pound. Lunch is available featuring sausage sandwiches, doughnuts, pastries and beverages.

Volunteers need for Half Marathon
COLUMBIANA - Volunteers are needed for the Hilloween Half Marathon on Oct. 27.
The race will start and finish at Columbiana High School with registration beginning at 5:30 a.m. and the race at 7 a.m. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 6 a.m.
Volunteer opportunities are open for registration, working at the intersections along the course, helping at the water stops, and also at the finish line.
