Annual CommUniversity Choir concert set
SALEM-The Kent State Salem CommUniversity Choir is presenting its annual holiday concert at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Kent State Salem City Center auditorium. This year's theme is "Carols Around the World."
The free public concert will feature the blended voices of Kent State students, faculty and community members. It is under the direction of Mel Fucci, music instructor at Kent State Salem. The choir will perform African, Spanish, Italian, French, German, English and American carols. Some will be sung in the native languages. Instrumentalists from the Quaker City Band and from Kent State University will accompany the choir.
LCBA?Christmas Party planned
SALEM- The annual Christmas Party for L.C.B.A. members and their guests will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the St. Paul School gym. Members are reminded to bring an unwrapped ornament for the Ornament Exchange and Dollar Store gift cards for Lifeline.
Winona Historical Society to meet
WINONA-The Winona Area Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Winona Meeting House. Lorna Waugh will be the program speaker.
Chicken on the Run dinner offered
SALEM- The First United Methodist Church of Salem, 244 S. Broadway Ave., will host a Chicken on the Run drive-thru dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. or until sold out Thursday.
Fish fry set at Columbiana Legion
COLUMBIANA- The American Legion Post 290 will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the post home. Cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children.

Swiss steak diner planned Saturday
WINONA- The Winona Friends Church on Whinnery Road will be holding a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in its Family Life Center. The dinner will consist of Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, vegetable, rolls and dessert. The cost of the meal will be $8. Carryouts will be available. Smith Grange offers breakfast Sunday
SMITH TOWNSHIP- The Smith Grange will host a country style breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children. Carry-outs will be available.
Auction set at Guilford Ruritan building
GUILFORD LAKE- The Cross Roads Council of the Knights of Columbus is sponsoring an auction at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Ruritan building on state Route 172 near Hanna Drive. The proceeds of the auction are to benefit local area food basket programs.

'Annie' auditons set in Columbiana
COLUMBIANA- Crown Theater Productions will hold auditions for "Annie" from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 16 and 17 in the Encore Room for children ages 5 through 15. A one minute song of choice sung a cappella will be required, no reading. Auditions for adults ages 16 and older will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 18.
Drive-thru ham dinner planned
COLUMBIANA- The Columbiana First United Methodist Church, 210 S. Main St., will hold a drive-thru ham dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 10 for a $7 donation.
Columbiana Historical Society dinner set
COLUMBIANA- The Columbiana-Fairfield Township Historical Society's Christmas dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Dutch House. The social begins at 6 p.m. Reservations need to be in by Friday. This year the YACTA award winning Jennifer Kuczek and musical director Matthew White will be the entertainment for the Christmas program after dinner.
E-Book Drop-In Help Session planned
COLUMBIANA- The Columbiana Public Library will offer an e-Book Drop-In Help Session from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 9 in the Salchow Room. Staff members will be available for one-on-one consultation. Participants are asked to bring their own device, power cord, the cord to link it to a computer, their library card and account logins for Adobe and Amazon if available.
The library purchases e-Books from two companies, Ohio Digital Library or Overdrive and Freading.
Salem-Lisbon La Leche League to meet
LISBON- The Salem-Lisbon La Leche League, a breastfeeding support group, will meet at 7 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, 111 E. Chestnut St. The discussion topics will be "Gentle Discipline and Weaning." All pregnant or nursing mothers and their babies are welcome. Youth Marksmanship Program offered
SALEM-Registration forms are now available for the 2014 Youth Marksmanship Program held at the Salem Hunting Club. Girls and boys between 9 and 17 years of age are encouraged to attend.
National Rifle Association Certified instructors will teach rifle basics that include firearm safety, rifle parts and their function and basic marksmanship skills from the prone, sitting / kneeling and standing positions in a positive and supportive learning environment.
The classroom portion begins in February. Class size is limited.

Swim lessons offered at Community Center
SALEM- The Salem Community Center will host another session of the popular American Red Cross Swim Lesson program beginning on Jan. 11 and running every Saturday to March 1.
Six Learn to Swim levels are available, along with a Mommy and Me level for infants and their parent. Instructors are American Red Cross WSI certified with years of experience. Weavers Guild plans holiday luncheon
CANFIELD- The Youngstown Area Weavers Guild will hold its annual holiday luncheon and ornament exchange at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road. Super Saturday set at West Branch
BELOIT- West Branch High School Saturday will host its Super Saturday with a series of events beginning with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the boys basketball teams from 8 a.m. to noon in the cafeteria. Cost is $8 for adults and includes a game ticket to the Lady Warriors at noon. Children ages 5 to 12 is $5 and ages 4 and under is free.
The association will sponsor its Christmas Carols, Cookies & Candy Canes at 10 a.m. in the community auditorium featuring the Young and Alive. There will also be a 50/50 raffle during the show and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, using one's own device, at 11 a.m. on the stage.
The Lady Warriors basketball team will host Carrollton, junior varsity at noon and varsity at 1:30 p.m., in the fieldhouse. Concessions will be operated by the WB Athletic Boosters.
