BOARDMAN - Thomas W. Hoffman Sr., 72, of Boardman, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Born July 7, 1941, in Salem, he was the son of Myron and Audrey (Fletcher) Hoffman.
Mr. Hoffman enlisted in the Air Force during the US-Cuban crisis of the early 1960s. He was honorably discharged when he was shot during the Bay of Pigs invasion. He was employed by Tajon as an over the road driver, and later worked for Browning Ferris Industries as a heavy equipment operator, from which he retired.
Survivors include his wife, the former Alice Beedham, whom he married Jan. 9, 1982; four sons, Thomas Jr. (fiancee Kim Wolf) of Salem, David of Canfield, Scott of Sharpsville and Douglas (Bernadette) of Boardman; five grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Kathleen) Hoffman Sr. of North Lima; and his special "adopted" grandchildren, Bruce and Erika Barnes and Josh and Elizabeth Robbins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market St., North Lima, with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the medical research fund of the donor's choice in Tom's memory.
