Dukes topple Quakers

SALEM–Marlington pulled away from Salem 8-1 in Northeastern Buckeye Conference softball action Thursday.

The Quakers fall to 6-2 overall.

Bailee Thorn went 3-for-4 including a double for Salem, while Elly Exline went 2-for-3. Sara Castles and Hayden Carner each singled.

The game was tied after four innings before the Dukes scored four runs in the fourth to break the game open.

Salem is at United today.

Alliance 1

ALLIANCE — West Branch’s softball team topped Alliance 12-1 in five innings on Thursday.

Jordan Anderson had three hits including two doubles for the winners. Kelsey Byers had two singles, a triple and an RBI.

Lisbon 4

LISBON–The Western Reserve softball team scored seven runs in the sixth inning to roar past Lisbon 7-4 Thursday.

Kenedy Vrable had a double and a single for Lisbon. Emma Thompson and Sam Tinsley each had an RBI.

Bobbi Bernhard gave Western Reserve the lead with a bases-loaded single in the sixth. She finished with two hits and two RBIs. Woolf added a single, a double and two RBIs.

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Megan Ward had two triples and a single as McDonald beat Springfield 2-1 on Thursday.

Cassie Bacon had a single and double for the Tigers. Makenzy Capouellez had two single, while Mya Duskey had a double.

Springfield is 4-2 and 3-2 in the MVAC.

LEETONIA–The Wellsville softball team’s bats were alive in a 10-2 win over Leetonia on Thursday.

Wellsville’s Aleia Hawk had a solid night on the mound with eight strikeouts while going the distance.

Hawk also had a single and a triple offensively for the Tigers. Aryn Ice and Emily Russell each had a single and a double.

Wellsville is now 5-5 and will travel to Oak Glen today.

GREENFORD–South Range stays hot early in the season with a 8-4 win over Hubbard on Thursday.

South Range is now 7-2 on the season.

Offensively for the Raiders, Madison Weaver had three singles. Hannah Dennison had a double and a single with two RBIs. Bree Koehler had a 2RBI double.

South Range returns to action when they travel to Marlington today.

COLUMBIANA–A solid pitching performance from Columbiana’s Alyssa Thom gave the Clippers an 11-1 victory over Southern on Thursday.

Columbiana was led offensively by Macy Linhart who had a triple and a single. Alexis Cross had a double and a single. Amanda Mellott had a double.

Columbiana is 3-3 and will host Poland today.

Southern falls to 2-3.
