Rebels split against Trumbull County pair

COLUMBIANA–One day after getting shutout by defending state title winner Champion, the Crestview baseball team bounced back by pummeling LaBrae 10-0 in five innings Friday.

Tyler Hurd pitched a complete game shutout for the Rebels to earn the win. Crestview broke the game open with five runs in the fourth.

Crestview had lost 7-0 to Champion on Thursday.

The Rebels are at East Liverpool Tuesday.

West Branch 9, Canfield 8

BELOIT — West Branch scored all of its runs in its last two offensive innings to dump Canfield 9-8 on Friday.

The Warriors (7-1) had five runs in the fifth and four runs in the sixth to snag the win.

T.J. DeShields had two hits and an RBI for the winners. Jon Snyder added two hits and two RBIs. David Cunningham had a single and double. Josh Stahler had a double and two RBIs.

Canfield fell to 5-5.

West Branch is at Poland today for a 2 p.m. start.

HANOVERTON — Salem’s baseball team recorded a 21-6 win over United on Friday.

Braydon Gibson went 4 for 6 to lead the 5-2 Quakers.

Mineral Ridge 13, Lisbon 3

MINERAL RIDGE — Mineral Ridge scored at least two runs in every inning on the way to a 13-3 five-inning victory over Lisbon on Friday.

The Rams scored two runs in the first inning, four in the second, two in the third and five in the fourth.

Winning pitcher Jake Caralo helped himself with three hits, three runs and an RBI. Also for the Rams, Taylor Squric collected three hits, three runs and three RBIs and Dakota Edwards two hits and three RBIs.

Lisbon’s Garrett Cox pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief and allowed seven runs, only one that was earned.

Josh Entrikin paced the Blue Devils with three hits and a run. Mason Rance added two hits and two RBIs. and Tyler Toot also had two hits.

SEBRING–The bats were alive for Southern as they scored eight runs in the fifth inning to beat Sebring 15-1 in five innings on Friday.

Connor Lewis had a two run double for the Indians. Brock Smalley added two singles and an RBI. Jimmy West had a single and two RBIs.

Caleb Glover held the Trojans to just one hit and had 13 strikeouts on the mound.

Southern is now 4-2 and will travel to the Next Level Sports Complex in Unity for a doubleheader against Heartland Christian today.

Sebring hosts a doubleheader against Leetonia today.

GREENFORD–South Range’s Brycen James and Ben Rivera each had triples and helped the Raiders beat Howland 12-6 on Friday.

Rivera finished the game with four RBIs and James had three RBIs for South Range. Jaxon Anderson smacked two doubles to help the cause.

South Range is now 4-6 and will host Edison today.

LOWELLVILLE–Western Reserve pounded Lowellville 13-3 in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference baseball action Friday.

The Blue Devils improve to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the MVAC.

Ryan Slaven collected four RBIs and picked up the win for the Blue Devils. Ryan Demsky added a double and three RBIs, while Josh Slaton had a triple and two walks.
