Salem sweeps Harding

WARREN–Salem picked up a pair of wins over Warren G. Harding on Saturday. Behind a no-hitter from Salem’s Taylor Thorpe the Quakers beat Warren G. Harding 8-1 in game one.

Every starter for the Quakers got a hit in the game.

Thorpe had 12 strikeouts on the mound for the Quakers and added three hits with three RBIs to help her cause offensively.

Bailee Thorn had a triple, double and two runs for Salem. Jessica Slocum had two hits. Hayden Carner doubled for the Quakers and Elly Exline tripled.

In game two, Salem won 3-1.

Jessica Slocum had two hits for Salem. Baillee Thorn and Taylor Thorpe each chipped in a double.

Salem is now 9-2 and will host Canton South on Monday.

South Range

splits a pair

POLAND–South Range split a pair of games with Steubenville and Poland on Saturday.

In the first game South Range beat Steubenville 15-8. Abbey Bokros had a two singles, one double and five RBIS for the Raiders. Bree Kohler chipped in two singles and one RBI. Madison Weaver had a single and two RBIs.

The Raiders dropped their second game against Poland 12-8.

Hanna Dennison had three singles and two RBIs for South Range. Marlaina Slabach had three singles. Hope Thomas had two singles and an RBI.

South Range is now 9-3 and will travel to Cardinal Mooney on Monday.

Columbiana sweeps Lordstown

COLUMBIANA–The Columbiana softball team swept a doubleheader with Lordstown Saturday.

The Clippers won the first game 7-1 behind two singles from Amanda Mellott and a double from Taylor Ross. Alyssa Tohm struck out six over seven innings for the win.

In the second game, the Columbiana offense broke out for a 15-5 win in six innings.

Ross and Marissa Makosky each doubled and singled for the Clippers, who improve to 5-4 overall. Marisa McDonough collected four singles, while Tohm had three singles.

Columbiana hosts Wellsville Monday.

East Palestine 7, Western Reserve 1

BERLIN CENTER–East Palestine clubbed Western Reserve 7-1 in softball action Saturday. The Bulldogs took control with six runs in the second inning.

Western Reserve falls to 6-2 overall.

Jade McBride pitched a complete game for the Bulldogs with four strikeouts. Alisha Dean had three singles.

Arianna Gregorino had a double and a single for the Blue Devils.

Leetonia at Sebring

SEBRING–Leetonia’s softball team swept a doubleheader against Sebring on Saturday.

Leetonia defeated Sebring 13-8 in game one.

Haley Ward had four hits and four RBIs for the Bears. Lissie Lorch also had four hits and three RBIs.

Emma Whaley had three hits for Sebring.

In game two, Leetoina won 11-1.

Lissie Lorch had a triple for the Bears.

COLUMBIANA–Crestview ran away with a 19-2 win over Campbell in five innings on Saturday.

Skyler Mattern went three for three on the day and had three RBIs for the Rebels. Olivia Strank hit two doubles and had four RBIs.

Crestview is now 5-6 and will host Wheeling Central Catholic on Monday.
