VOLLEYBALL: Quakers stay unbeaten

SALEM — Salem’s volleyball team ran its mark to 5-0 and 2-0 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference by dumping Alliance 25-14, 25-14, 25-11 on Thursday.

Elly Exline had five kills, two aces, 10 points and 15 digs on her birthday. Caitlyn Marx chipped in six kills and three blocks. Josie Miller had three kills and 22 assists. West Branch is at Salem on Tuesday.

Salem won the jayvee portion in two sets. Hannah Yannucci had five aces.

West Branch 3,

Minerva 0

BELOIT — West Branch swept Minerva 25-13, 25-14, 25-13 on Thursday in Eastern Buckeye Conference action.

For West Branch (5-2, 1-1), Sammie Tuel had 13 points and six kills, Elise Wallace 19 assists, Riley Tuel six kills.

West Branch won the jayvee portion, 25-6, 25-16. Morgan Loudon had 12 points and four aces. Ariah Hagan had three kills.

Southern 3, United 1

HANOVERTON — Southern Local spiked United 21-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-20 on Thursday.

Southern (4-1, 3-1 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference) was led by Riley Felton’s 14 points, 11 kills and eight blocks. Erin Boyle had 13 points and 10 digs. Hannah Hayes had 20 assists and four kills, while Maddie Paxson had seven points, six kills and seven digs.

For United (2-5), Rachel Bowen had six aces, 16 kills and five blocks. Tori Tschappatt had eight kills and two blocks.

Southern won the jayvee match in two sets. Camryn Mellott had eight points and three kills. Delainey Mellott had eight points and two kills.

Southern hosts East Palestine on Tuesday. United is at Wellsville on Tuesday.

East Palestine 3,

Leetonia 0

LEETONIA — East Palestine’s volleyball team was a 26-24, 25-15, 25-8 winner over Leetonia on Thursday.

For East Palestine (5-3, 3-1), McKenna Griffith had 13 points, eight aces and seven digs. Madee Foster added 15 points, two aces, seven kills and 19 digs. Mady Pickett had 24 assists.

Miya Dolan had 11 digs for the Bulldogs. Elyssa Jones had seven assists, three digs and five aces. Samantha Scheider had two kills and three blocks.

Springfield 3,

Western Reserve 0

BERLIN CENTER — Springfield downed Western Reserve 25-21, 25-9, 25-21 on Thursday.

Springfield is 5-2 and 3-0 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference.

Kaelen Yemma paced the winners with 23 assists and five kills. Jennie Stitzel had 13 kills. Makenzy Capouellez had 35 digs.

Wellsville 3, Columbiana 0

WELLSVILLE–The Wellsville volleyball team powered through Columbiana 25-10, 25-6, 25-11 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Thursday.

The Tigers are now 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the EOAC.

Wellsville was led by Kiki Perry with 16 points, while Jenna McNicol had 13 digs and Regan Pierson had nine points, 25 assists and three aces.

Also for Wellsville, Greta Cartwright had 12 assists, Kinley Martin had seven kills and four aces, Delaney Cochran had five kills and Peyton Davidson had three kills.

For the Clippers, Maci Linhart had 10 digs, while Alyssa Tohm had nine digs and four assists. Harmony Offenburg added two kills.

Wellsville won the jayvee match 25-13, 25-19. Paige Green had seven aces and five assists for the Tigers, while Emily McNicol had three aces and six assists. Katelynn Exline added five kills.

Crestview 3,

Brookfield 0

BROOKFIELD–Crestview took down Brookfield 25-18, 25-14, 25-11 in All American Conference Blue Tier volleyball action Thursday.

Emily Emch had 17 points, seven kills and five digs for the Rebels, who improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the AAC Blue.

Molly Emch added 11 kills and a pair of blocks for Crestview, while Haley Eskra collected 21 assists, nine points and eight digs. Brenna Auer finished with nine kills and seven points.

Crestview won the jayvee match 25-12, 24-26, 25-16. Lucy Montgomery finished with eight points, five kills and 20 assists for the Rebels, while Madison Moore had 10 points, nine kills and six digs.

The Rebels are at Liberty Tuesday.
