Rebels gain 11th win of season at Liverpool

EAST LIVERPOOL — Krista Perry had 21 points, three assists and 10 rebounds as the Crestview girls basketball team rolled to a 55-25 victory over East Liverpool on Monday at Potter Fieldhouse.

The Rebels outscored the Potters 35-6 in the second half to take control. Crestview is 11-4 and will play host to Brookfield on Wednesday.

Tanner Hoffer added eight points and 15 rebounds. Mara Halas had five assists and three steals. Shianna Mathes chipped in three steals.

Emma Ludwig had 13 points for the Potters.

Crestview won 47-16. For the Rebels, Ashton Hughes had 11 points. For the Potters, Hadden Harrington had five points for the points.

Lisbon 49, Southern 20

SALINEVILLE — Lisbon pushed its record to 12-5 overall and 10-3 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference with a 49-20 win over Southern Local on Monday night.

Maddie Liberati had a strong inside game with 16 points, six rebounds and seven steals for the Devils. Izzy Perez had 11 points and five assists. Corrine Freeman had nine points, four rebounds and four steals.

Riley Felton had nine points for Southern.

Lisbon won the jayvee game, 21-16. Bryanna Vangiessen had 16 points for the Devils. Alexia Phillis and Taylor Cunningham had six points each for Southern.

Lisbon hosts Wellsville on Friday as part of a boy-girl doubleheader.

Southern is at Toronto on Thursday.

Western Reserve 55 OT

MCDONALD — Molly Howard’s last second jumper in overtime lifted McDonald to a 56-55 win over Western Reserve on Monday in a key Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference battle.

McDonald improves to 17-0, while Western Reserve is 14-2 with both losses coming to McDonald.

Dani Vuletich paced Reserve with 22 points and eight rebounds.

Olivia Perry had 23 points for McDonald.

Western Reserve won the two-quarter jayvee game, 18-14. Emma Heater had seven points for the winners.

GREENFORD — Izzy Lamparty had 24 points and 12 rebounds as South Range solved Struthers 66-51 on Monday in Northeast 8 play.

Bri Modic added 17 points for the Raiders, 11-7, 9-3.

Bree Kohler had eight assists and 12 rebounds.

South Range hosts Niles on Thursday.

East Palestine 47, Wellsville 33

WELLSVILLE — Jocyln Fristik and Jaliyah Mixon combined for 30 points in leading East Palestine past Wellsville, 47-44, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Monday.

The Bulldogs improve to 14-4 overall and 10-3 in the EOAC, tied with Lisbon for second place. The Tigers drop to 0-18 and 0-13 EOAC.

Fristik scored a team-high 17 points and four steals. Mixon added 13 points and Sara Buskirk grabbed nine rebounds.

East Palestine led 34-29 after three quarters before outscoring Wellsville 13-4 in the fourth quarter behind seven points from Fristik.

Cameron Carlevale sparked the Tigers with a game-high 18 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Madison Cline added six rebounds, Hunter Weekley five rebounds and Leah Vinton three assists.

East Palestine also won the two-quarter junior varsity game, 26-10. Juli Jones 10 points for the Bulldogs. Honestey Thomas had six points ror the Tigers.

East Palestine will host United on Thursday, while Wellsville travels to Lisbon for a girls-boys doubleheader on Friday.

Columbiana 57, United 31

COLUMBIANA — No one can slow the Columbiana girls in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Five Clippers scored in the first quarter Monday to take a 17-4 lead on the way to a 57-31 win over United.

Columbiana improves to 14-3 overall and 13-0 in the EOAC as the Clippers wrapped up a sixth straight league title. United moves to 9-8 and 8-5 in league play.

Kayla Muslovski and Tessa Liggett topped the Clippers with Muslovski getting 18 points and four assists and Liggett totaling 15 points, five rebounds and four steals. Kennedy Fullum added 11 points and five rebounds. Grace Hammond grabbed six rebounds and made four steals and Tori Long dished out four assists.

The Clippers built a 51-20 lead in the third quarter.

Celeste Hofmeister led United with 17 points.

Both teams play Thursday as Columbiana hosts Lisbon and United visits East Palestine.

Leetonia 65, Toronto 62, OT

LEETONIA — Leetonia rallied from a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter for a 65-62 win over Toronto in overtime Monday.

Ari Russell sparked the Bears with 27 points and 15 rebounds. Taran Ferry contributed 14 points, seven steals and six assists. Anna Buffone added 11 points and Josie Glosser nine points.

The Bears trailed 37-23 at halftime and 44-35 after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter, Russell scored 10 points and Buffone’s three-pointer closed the gap to 52-50. Glosser’s conventional three-point play gave the Bears their first lead at 53-52 with 54 seconds to play.

Buffone followed with a basket to make it 55-52, but Toronto’s Jozaeyah Jordan followed with three free throws to send the game into overtime.

In overtime, the score was tied at 57-57 and 61-61 before Jensyn Jackson split a pair of free throws, giving the Red Knights a 62-61 lead with 35 seconds remaining.

Russell made a basket at the 17-second mark and two free throws with 2.3 seconds to play to give the Bears the victory.

Kendal Thomas led Toronto (7-12) with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jozaeyah Jordan contributed 17 points and four assists and Maddie Anderson nine points and 15 rebounds

Toronto won the junior varsity game, 27-22. Allison Francosky led the Bears with eight points.

Both teams will play Thursday as Leetonia vists league champion Columbiana and Toronto hosts Southern.
