Eagles soar over Clippers

COLUMBIANA–The United girls soccer team beat Columbiana 5-0 on Monday.

The Eagles are now 1-1 overall. Columbiana is 0-1.

Abigail Hruby got the Eagles on the board in the first half and scored again in the second half. Scoring the other goals for the Eagles were Julianna Logan, Morgan Briceland and Samantha Wolfe. Madelynne Brieck had one save in goal.

Autumn Chuey had eight saves for the Clippers.

United is at Minerva Saturday. Columbiana hosts Springfield on Wednesday.

United 13, Columbiana 4

HANOVERTON — United rolled over Columbiana 13-4 on Monday in boys soccer action.

Zach Jewell powered the Eagles (2-0) with a hat trick, while Tyler Blake and Caleb Rawson each scored twice.

Kade Blake, Nathan Marhefka, Sean McKarns, Luke Medure, Keaton Widlicka, and Zachary Stock each scored once.

Dishing out assists for United were Ethan Stout with three, Jaret Hahn with two and Kade Blake, Zach Jewell, Ethan McDevitt, and Sean McKarns with one each.

In goal Ethan McDevitt recorded seven saves and Dylan Thompson recorded two saves for the Eagles.

For the Clippers, Collin Schick had three goals and an assist. Gabe Heinrich had a goal and an assist. James Porter and Drake Daughtery had an assist each.

Nate Burrell had 19 saves in goal.

United is at Warren JFK today.

The Eagles won the jv match 3-0 with with Ryan Keir, Caleb Rawson and Grant Irwin each scoring one goal. Dylan Thompson had six saves for the Eagles.

Niles 3, Salem 0

NILES — Salem’s girls soccer team was on the wrong end of 3-0 scoreline on Monday at Niles. Sam Moore had five saves in goal for Salem.

Salem is 1-1.

Niles won the jayvee game 1-0. Salem host Ursuline on Wednesday.

Crestview 7,

Newton Falls 0

NEWTON FALLS — Crestview defeated Newton Falls 7-0 in a girls All-American Conference game on Monday.

Maci Shaffer and Morgan Cresanto both racked up two goals and an assist. Captain Emma Horne contributed a goal and three assists and was joined by captain Madison Lindsay with an additional goal.

Crestview (1-1) hosts South Range on Friday.

Newton Falls 0

NEWTON FALLS — The Crestview boys soccer team tripped up Newton Falls 6-0 on Monday.

Nick Novak and Dale McGoogan had two goals each for the winners, while Mitch Auer and Ryan Emch scored once each. Emch had three assists. McGoogan, Jarred Kalina and Auer had one assist each.

Goalie Carter Blakeman had five saves for the Rebels.

Crestview is at Brookfield on Thursday.
